I used your very helpful tutorial to fix an IKEA Tretur roller blind! My daughter had pulled on the fabric of the blind enough to pull the spline out and damage it about 1/3 the width of the blind. I figured out a way to do this without ordering specialty product. I snipped off a sample of the spline and use it as a template to cut a strip of thin, flexible plastic from an old flexible kitchen cutting mat (can buy from dollar store). I then used some double sided tape to adhere it, butted up against the remaining "good" factory spline. Used the tip below to use a few staples to hold length in place. Threaded the base rail back on, attached end caps, and it is good as new!

For anyone that arrives here as I did trying to figure this out, and your main issue is sourcing the spline, it cannot be found anywhere in this world, at least the one I live in. There are no providers for it on Amazon/Alibaba/eBay/anywhere, it does not come up in any search engines, and MCD doesn't respond to info requests. However, if you're like me you haven't lost your spline - it's just that the adhesive is low quality and has probably let go. As long as you don't have a damaged spline, the one for MCD is 3/8 wide so just order 3/8 double sided tape and you can proceed with the repair shown in this video.

Can you do that for the big blades for the door as well?

I recently had day and night blinds installed. Bottom rails are black with visible silver scratches...is this typical of them? Some scratches are quite deep.

Hello, I have a blind with the exact problem described in this video. Part of the blind has pulled away from the bottom rail. I have been able to remove both end caps, but cannot slide the bottom rail off. It seems to be stuck. Any tips for getting the bottom rail off in this scenario?. On the part of the blind that has lifted up there appears to be adhesive residue, I presume this is just from the spline?

Yeh mate . So once the spline drops out from the rail it will feel like it's stuck or tight. This is due to both the residue of the double sided tape and the position the blind is now in. You want to be careful not to tear or stretch the skin to much but you can usually give it a pretty good yank before doing any damage. The best advice I can give is to hold down the skin firmly with one hand and almost just lean back and drag the bottom rail. This should work. If there's damage to skin at the bottom you can always trim the bottom of the skin 5mm and relay the spline. Any imperfections from the trim will be covered up by the rail and the new fold you make .

It depends where you are located. But you can try blind manufacturers or retailers in your region.

what do i do if there is no spline?

You can try and fold the fabric a few times . I have done this before , it is difficult but it does work . Or you can buy the spline from our online shop . www.blindrepairsolutions.com.au

I checked the website link but there is not a way to purchase spline so I can repair our shades. Please attach a link to purchase spline. Thank you😊😊😊

A few tips . 1. Use 3 staples to hold the spline in place. One in the middle and two two on the out edges. Then fold. 2. When placing the spline on the "skin' or fabric make sure you gently apply it ensuring there are not gaps between the spline and the skin 3. When sliding the bottom rail on this needs to be done in a smooth motion (preferably in one motion) to avoid "puckering" or bunching of the skin . :)
