Replace Chevy Malibu Classic Hazard Turn Signal Switch Relay

Short video on the quick and easy replacement of the hazard switch relay part in the Chevy Malibu Classic. Replace this part when all hazard lights and turn signals are not working correctly. Fairly easy and inexpensive part to replace. This is not for when partial lights working.

The Hazard and turn signal flasher are intergrated with the hazard switch. My hazards were working but the turn signals did not work. $22.50 fix! NICE!!!

Life hack. Pop off air vent to the right of the emergency flasher use flat head and pop it out from the front probably dont even have to pop the vent off it worked for me.

I might try this myself. I think I'm having this same issue in my 01 Malibu (been like this for about 5 years). My vent is already pretty flimsy so screw it. I usually have to finesse the Hazard switch to get them to work. Also, I have to replace the A/C motor. Gonna do both today.

I don't usually comment on videos but I just wanted to say thank you. I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu and after thanking another driving using my hazards a fews day ago, my turn signals stopped working, but my hazards were fine. I checked all the fuses and every bulb, all were just fine. I followed your video and re-connected my existing hazard/turn signal switch relay and my turn signals work again. OK, got it!!! Mine looks exactly like this, but mine is a 2000. I cracked the panel right at the steering wheel, but no biggie. Was a biddy to get off, but finally did it with my son on the phone cheering me on! Hardest part after that was getting old switch out...was stuck in there pretty good. Thanks for the video...first "car repair" I've ever done!

You were right on this on buddy thank you for the video I'm like last resort I'm trying it sure enough it was the hazard switch do for all you that are having similar problems I took the turning signal and wiper assembly apart cleaned still nothing I'm like well I'm gonna try this fuses this was the problem 15 min tops fix exchange for a ticket or embarrassment by being pulled over!! This was it controls signals and obviously hazardous lights as well!! Thanks again for the video!!

My mom has a 2002 Chevy Malibu. Module my mom has to hit it just to make left turns and right turns and not to mention her Windows electric windows go Haywire. I just wonder what controls all that another module or the computer. It's got a mind of its own it works when it wants to. Sometimes you can roll down the window and sometimes you can't. And also if you close the door and leave the keys inside the car automatic locks. Sometimes when you're driving or parked the horn which is come on automatically and many people think that my mom is honking at them.

What would you call the long panel you took out? Part of mine broke so my vent won’t stay in place, along with the switch relay. Therefore, I have to hold the switch relay in proper position with one hand every time I want to use turning signals

Thank you for sharing! I have an 04 Malibu Classic, which is having an intermittent turn signal problem due to the hazard light switch. I just ordered a new switch on EBay. Now I'll know exactly what to do, when It arrives. Do you know anything about the Cruise Control on these cars? Mine only works intermittently, usually not until the car is warm, on longer road trips.

Thanks for the video. I'm having an issue where my turn signals aren't working but the hazard lights work. I have checked all of my fuses and they are fine. Do you think this relay could fix that issue, although the hazard lights are working?

Hi, that could be issue, but it also could be the turn signal lever area on your steering wheel column. With my wifes car we could some times get the signals to work by give the dash a good thump by this part shown in the video. I don't recall if the hazards worked or not during this. The part was like 15-20 at the big box auto parts store. If the steering wheel area is problem it will be more expensive probably to fix.

Would this have an impact on brake light functionality? My 3rd brake light functions properly, but both brake lights don't work as well as hazards and turn signals.

Starla Romo could be the bulbs in the wrong spot that's what was wrong with mine.or you could need a new circuit board for the bulbs. could be burnt

This could be your problem. One thing we did for a while before replacing is we could give the dashboard a good thump near this switch and things would work again for a short while. The relay would start clicking again.
