Replace Recirculation Motor Actuator Fast 2005 Chevy Cobalt

I found that if you take the glove box and side panel off, you can see the actuator. I was able to pop it off with a long screwdriver without removing any foam. If I had marked the actuator before removing it, it would have made reinstalling it much faster as once it is in the right place, it easily clips into position. It took me over 30 minutes before I was able to find the right spot. Has I marked the actuator before removal, the job would have taken less than 15 minutes.

Mine has screws holding it in place. I can't just pop it off. Getting the screws out is going to be a nightmare. And not sure about the installation of the two screws. Not going to be easy.

To what do those 2 plugs attach to bro? Why didn't you show full dissasembly for actuator access? Can a person simply reach up, grab it with fingers and pull it off and reverse the process again? The tools will cost me more than the actuator.

@@glovester I actually got my hand on it but I couldnt wiggle it off. Then I found a mobile mechanic on Craigslist and he pulled it off and reinstalled the new one for $50. I couldn't believe my luck.

This care was making a loud clicking/clapping shortly after being started. The noise was coming from underneath the glove box compartment. This video shows how to fix that problem.

I have a 2006 hhr blows hot air when you turn on the a/c . If I put that part will it solve the problem?

"Hot air when AC is on" if you hear compressor click on and one of AC aluminum hoses are very cold--than AC works--its a blend door Actuator is bad. To find exactly which one---turn Heat/Cold knob one and other way and look at Actuators which one is buzzing or clicking...than look closely if the shaft is actually moving ( motor might buzz but not move the blend door)--when found--replace it. Good luck

It doesn’t just “pop off”, there are clips on either side of the actuator that are extremely hard to take off.

How are the clips shaped and how is the actuator removed from the clips?

@@MrJohnnyDistortion 3 clips, they clip through half circle holes and you have to push them inward to get them to unclip and pull it forward

After Removing the insulation, I can actually reach up and get my hand ON the actuator, but for the life of me, I CAN'T get it off. This has me worried that if I do get it off, I won't get the new one on. Any one else here have that happen ?

Getting the new one on its just about lining up the little piece in the middle. The hardest part is taking it off. My hands were pretty raw by the end of it, it's possible though. Took about a week of attempts. The key is popping both sides off one at a time and keeping one up at the same time as lifting the other, once you do that slowly pull straight off.

Okay I'm working on a Pontiac g5 gt and I pulled up diagrams the same diagram in this video below it says remove screw!!! So I'm over here trying to pop it off and wondering why it's not popping off so easily.

I fix them In 30 seconds, over there where the insulation is is 2 small wires just cut them problem solved.. it only the fresh air vent mostly no one uses the fresh air circulation. I am telling u I have done this at least 50 times I am a cobalt dealer
