Just like to say. Fantastic video, I watch a lot of DIY videos, normally just to see how others do it. I’m new to Vauxhalls so yeah, great video. Well explained.

Excellent video. I have bought insignia 2011 tourer and I am curious about changing the brake pads. getting a slight stuttery feel when braking at low speeds, not mechanically trained at all but I like to have a look so this video will help with that. Thank you.

Great video well explained and shown. other vids say to open the break fluid cap when pushing back the caliper piston. Is using a screw driver/grips is safe and wont damage the caliper piston?
@MrAutoFixer Жыл бұрын
Checking the fluid before you start to make sure it won’t spill over is a good idea, and as long as you are careful using grips or screwdriver is fine 👍

@MrAutoFixer29 күн бұрын
Hi, no you won’t need to bleed the brakes as you are not undoing any parts of the hydraulic system you are just pushing the pistons back so you should be all good. Please let me know how you get on.

Ok great vidoe thanks I have a 2016 insignia with electric hand brake,I need to change rear pads,easy enough but want I want help with is this,do I need a diagnostic reader or something to calibrate the rear hand brake,or is it simply a case of just winding back piston,with handbrake off while I do it,any advice worked be appreciated thank you
@MrAutoFixer10 ай бұрын
Hi, yes with electric handbrakes you normally need to have a computer to put it in maintenance mode so you can push the pistons back without damaging them! Only exception to this is if the electric handbrake mechanism is not attached to the caliper(cable operated) then you won’t need to plug it in to do it. So please check what setup you have before hand,and yes take the brake fluid cap off will help allow the fluid to move when pushing the pistons back. Hope that helps let me know how you get on 👍
@seanwallace197210 ай бұрын
I will let you know won’t be doing them soon though,but I’ll let you know

Is it identical to the newer model you think? I need to change brakes on our 2021 insignia but I think it’s the back since we got that noise you got when spinning the front wheel in the video. Cheers!
@MrAutoFixer7 ай бұрын
It will be very similar if it’s not the same, if it’s the rear you need to change just check if your handbrake is electric you will need a scan tool to set the caliper motor into a service position 👍
@christopherready856810 ай бұрын
Hi Mate. have you ever changed the oil sump pick up seal. I think it's a rubber gasket. Would be excellent to see a video of that on the Vauxhall Insignia and to see how easy it would be or difficult it would be for likes of me lol.

@tbh8283Ай бұрын
@@MrAutoFixer if you pushed the pistons back, without remove the cap, what happens then?
@MrAutoFixerАй бұрын
@tbh8283 not a lot really if you left the cap on and the fluid level was ok when you push the pistons back the fluid will just be forced by the cap seal and leak out and it may also be a little harder to push the pistons back but nothing serious really 👍
