They're NOT from Needlemouse VHS. WARNING: The next things are gonna go kinda technical. Tails was originally going to have his shoes blue in Sonic 2. Hovewer, they were going to use Sonic's color palette, so, when Sonic became Super, Tails's shoes would turn into bright yellow. So, they made them red, like Sonic's. And that's the reason why we see them usually red.
