shouldnt the ball joint be on the top of the tire, not on the bottom?

Most have it on the bottom depending on the design and shape to go to the steering wheel. Thanks for watching and the comment.

I am having a problem removing the socket that the draglink fell off of on the other side that you don't give much on. Is there a secret?

If I'm gathering what you mean take a vice grip hold it on the ball end and take your wrench and turn the nut off hope this helps. Thanks for watching and the comment

I have a 2008 Craftsman DLS 3500 20HP when turning the wheels all the way left or right depending, the drag link rubs on the inside of the front tires. I was wondering if you might know what's causing this? Could the drag links are worn out or bent. I bought it used a few months ago so no idea the history of it. My 2005 LT 1000 had different steering on that machine. I would appreciate your input or help with this. Because the turning radius is so terrible as well on the DLS 3500. Thank you very much!

It could be a number of things. These mowers are known to have spindle issues where they bend and make the wheels out of alignment. It could be simple wear in the tie rods look for play in them. It could be a design flaw or the steer tires could be to big or the wheel dish could be off. So a number of things it could be. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and the comment.

Someone that worked on it before I bought it put the drag links on the opposite sides 2:12 making the inside of tires to rub against the drag links while turning also limits the turning radius as well. I found that the aftermarket ones use a red mark of paint on the right side drag link. And sure enough the red marked right one was on the left side. I switched them over they were both in great shape too. But it steers perfect now. I'm so glad it wasn't something bad and no damage was done. Thanks again.

What does drag link do actually? How will I tell if it’s gone or going bad?

It is the link between the steering shaft and your steering wheel shaft to control the steering of your mower. The ends wear and get play in them and at times break. You will all so know when its broke because you will have no steering. When there is excessive wear it will be hard to control the mower. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and the comment
