I know I used to live in a house like that. flooding did occur and you can probably guess the rest. Long story short we did eventually get rid of the carpet in that bathroom.

Big thing back in the 60’s and 70’s I believe. I grew up with carpet everywhere even on the walls.

I replaced an integrated angle stop like that yesterday. The integrated line sprung pinholes just bending it just a little back, came completely apart when I was removing the stop. Sketch!

I used to do student housing and they had a ton of push pull integrated stops, completely made of plastic. They always sprung a leak where the hose joined the stop. I hated them so much

I want to see that caulk line next to carpet lol

Multiple turn- seem to hold up 1/4 seizes if not regularly turned

I remember in my parent’s Long Island mansion, on the third floor there was a carpet bathroom with tub and shower. I must say. I loved it

I like Oatey products, but use Brass Craft quarter turn angle stops.

Only a theory but I have an idea that Covid started in a Chinese bathroom with a carpeted floor.

What wrench do you use?

Fun Tip: Wrap the exposed copper pipe with Teflon tape. It looks pretty nice once everything is put back together.

I have used the Oatey angle stops before and I HATE them, I personally prefer the Nibco brand, I love Oatey otherwise, Glue, Ice maker boxes, washer boxes, etc. Any advice to installing Oatey angle stops without them leaking?

Fuck my valve preference, i prefer a bathroom WITH NO CARPET

1/4 turn ball valves constantly leak in my world. Always a little drip and there is nothing you can do. They are nothing like their larger ball valve counterpart. I never install them.

I'm going tomorrow to change a quarter turn valve that's leaking very badly multi-turn valves all day long
@theplumbersplunger17 күн бұрын
Why is that?
@ricklee82717 күн бұрын
@@theplumbersplunger I'm not sure why the quarter turn valve has failed yet haven't done the job but at least with the multi-turn valve The only thing that really goes wrong is the washer might shit the bed. I sweat all my valves on. Very little high-end stuff I'll still use Chrome nipples but still use a multi-turn valve they have a packing nut quarter turn valves do not.

One piece supply lines and valves from the eighties were junk. Once you bent it to repair a toilet you were left with shutting the water off to replace stop and line. Horrible idea.

Are yall allergic to chrome sleves? Always use them myself and I've never seen a shorts plumber use them.
@theplumbersplunger17 күн бұрын
@@mikea491 they are not stocked by the company I work for. Not common in my area either

@@mikea491 Great way to put that I do like the Chrome sleeve valves as well it gives trim nice finish problem is most people on these shorts don't know how to solder

Rookies & homeowners always think quarter turns are better when in reality they fail for often than a decent multi turn.

Ive used Brass Craft quarter turns for years, with no such problems. Sounds like a water quality issue
