Test firing right now! This is the second time I've replaced my relays. Thank you for the refresher course.

Thanks a bunch! The error on my kiln today signals stuck relay. I happen to have a set on hand so your video gave me the inspiration I need to get started ! Putting on my big girl potter pants to learn my way through replacing relays.

YES! If you take your time, it's not as confusing as it seemed before opening up the belly of the beast LOL! You will do great and be back to firing in no time! :D

@@hobbypotter Thanks so much! I replaced the relays, fired, and got another error. This time was the thermocouple. Now it fires like a dream! Thanks for taking the time to create your video!

I see from the relay at the beginning that is has a 12V coil. My concern was that the the smoke could have been because the circuit that is providing the 12V could have busted and that is what the smoke came from (a burnt coil). After watching the video, I think you hubby is likely right, the loose wire could be the culprit. He definitely knew what he was doing and was a patient teacher as well. Good for you being a patient learner/doer. Even then, he may want to measure the coil on the broken relays to make sure that was not the issue (if it was just the contacts that burnt up, the coils should still be OK).

Thanks for this wonderful video, Tammy Jo. I have to replace the same parts in my kiln and am quite nervous about it. Your video helped me understand the process I will be tackling soon.

Hi Min Oh, We replaced these relays because I received an error code, but for maintenance, I learned from searching google they say every 12-24 Months (....this was the 1st time changing my relays in 8 years!!!) .

@@hobbypotter 12-24 months! Oh my! And here I am having to change relays after 8 years too. Mine is a glass fusing kiln, but I don't think that makes any difference.
