Got it done !! Using just regular tools....... 2 sets of needle nose pliers and tiny pry bars did the trick. I was able to use a small phillips hand screwdriver for the rear wire clamp. Thanks for posting the video. FYI: Our Dryer is stacked on top of the washer so i was a much better solution than taking it apart, it took just over an hour to complete.

Thanks for the video, I replaced mine in about 30 minutes with only a Phillips screwdriver. I didn’t need any special tools for the spring clip just stretch it over the ring, really not that hard at all. I also didn’t need any screw driver attachments. Just use a short stubby size phillips. Easier than I thought it would be.

I've replaced my Whirlpool Duet bellow tub seal 3 times now, every time I need a refresher to build my confidence on the proper process and this video is perfect. Knocked it out in about an hour today. No leaks and I feel good about the replacement. Thank you...saved me money, time, and stress (only had to halt the laundry cycles for 4 days), and completing it on my own. Yes!!

I just did this. Thank you! I did not take off the door. I just ordered the door boot spring tool because I cannot get it back on. But I was able to use a piece of wire to hold it in place temporarily (just twisted it tight to secure it) and I just did a load of wash. It's fine for a few day. So happy I watched this.

Thanks for the awesome video. NO SPECIAL TOOLS TO BUY. Found that I could undo the inner band with a Phillips screwdriver. For the outer band: I nailed 2 -2" finishing nails 6.5" apart on a 9" long 2x3 and left the nail heads 3/8" above flush. Held the 2x3 in a vice & using a vise grip on the wire stretched the spring until the loops at each end of the wire were around the nail heads . This was enough to get the wire around the seal, then used a flat screwdriver to push the wire off a nail to put the wire in place.

Really? You must have a good selection of tools then that MOST regular people do NOT... Thank God for the other videos on here that not only give step by step directions that you can comprehend vs being in some kind of race that people can't EASILY follow - but many tips & tricks people have found ro make the whole process easier (like warming the gasket in the sun so it's easier to fit on vs battling w vicegrips & multi screwdrivers like some were having probs with FYI - for regular ppl wout a grg full of all types of tools - you also NEED TORX BITS if you want to do it properly. .. that means taking the top, kickplate & front off (& have to quickly disconnect control panel) of the washer IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO IT RIGHT

Wow! We have a stacked washer/dryer in a tiny closet. I'm a handy person, but putting that gasket back in via the front was a test of patience and my arthritic neck/hands. However, It was possible. Thank you. 10 minutes to remove old springs, gasket, 2 hours to put in new gasket, 5 minutes to put in new springs. :) .

I was able to get the outer band back on by using 2 Robertson screw drivers and putting them in the loops on both sides of the spring and stretching out the spring as wide as I could while my friend fit the band around the gasket (basically the same method he used with the special tool he had)

Another video mentioned using a soft sided clamp, to clamp the outer metal spring ring at the top and then using one pair of needle nose pliers on one of the spring loops to hold it in place at the bottom. Then run your hand around the rest of the ring until it pops into place. Worked really slick and took all of 10 seconds for that final step!

If you happen to have tire spoons they work great instead of buying the spring spreader. 90* driver was definitely a must the factory put my screw right up against the soap fill hose too to make it extra fun. Thanks for the video. Probably took me 30 min and most of that was getting the inner lip back on. I used soapy water to lube the seal and it worked like a charm. Don't know if that was a good idea though. :)

@@Mickofalltrades I honestly forgot to use any kind of lubricant when I did it yesterday lol. Still tho, got it done in about an hour, not bad for first time not knowing really what to expect. I ended up taking the spring off the wire part as my spring spreaders didn’t stretch it nearly enough, vice grips on the spring and as long as you hold the other side in place and pull straight across it doesn’t even slide or move. Not sure if I’d recommend that way tho as it did kind of pull the rubber together and bunch slightly, but it’s all good no leaks.

A lot of them you can. The ones I can’t do without take the front off is LG. The counter weights are too close to the gasket for me to be able to get it on. There may be a couple more but lg are the ones I remember. Whirlpool’s are the easiest in my opinion. As long as you have a 9/32 sockets.

Hi, do you the name for the 90 degree angle screwdriver ? Thank you
@daytonagreg8765
@daytonagreg8765 4 ай бұрын
It's a special screwdriver just called a "90* screwdriver". It's about 5 inches long and there is NO HANDLE. ON EACH END imagine someone BENT ONE INCH of EACH phillips end 90 degrees (right angle). There is a 90 degree phillips on EACH END, one end a smaller phillips, and the other end a larger phillips. Since this long gasket screw is RIGHT UP AGAINST the gasket in a CREVICE, this right angle allows you to insert the screwdriver head into the screw. HOMEOWNER TIP: I NOTICED that if you pull the WHOLE washing DRUM towards you away from the INSIDE of the machine, you will have more room for accessing the long screw. You might not need the 90* if its accessible enough. It depends on where exactly it is. Also if you Google "right angle screw driver" you'll see the tool he's talking about. The cheaper one worked for me. GOOD LUCK. I'm at the point where I'm removing the gasket. Legend has it, I'm still working on it.

Thanks for the video. Some models will require the front to come off no matter what because there’s a hose inlet that you need to access. You need to remove a little plastic coupling from the old boot and install on the new one. It’s really not a big deal to remove the front. 9 screws, I think? FWIW I had no problem simply stretching the spring ring over the lip with just my hands/fingers. WFW5620HW0
