Replacing Implant with DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction

Patients unhappy with implant breast reconstruction can replace the implant with their own living tissue with procedures like the DIEP flap.

Did you have the flap surgery where they took skin from your abdomen? If you did, I would love for you to tell me about it because I’m having it in a couple weeks because I had a double mastectomy because of cancer. I’m kind of going back-and-forth on whether I should do it or not do it. I just don’t know what to do right now.😊

I had the diep flap instead of implants on Nov. 13, I’m 5 weeks post op. Got my energy back and on treadmill already one hour a day. I feel good thank god but what a surgery 8.5 hours under and then when you wake up it’s crazy! Plus hospital gave me Covid on top of all the pain shhhiittt!!!! I made it and I’m happy with my scars and my own boobs❤️🙏
