I installed the SE Pro Oilpump and camplate for my 2018 Fat Boy to update it. I got the Feuling Short Sump Plug installed at 10K miles when I did my 10K. It was a bit odd of an install because that plug is so easy to turn. So I used the video reference and saw my plug was about as far in as Luke's in the Feuling video. I used Permatex high temp thread sealant made for 400F applications and oil fittings, and oil lines. I should have a video of installing just the Short Sump Plug going on my channel here shortly myself. My bike is updated to stage 2 and modern hardware 100% now, with a good tune for that SE8-447 Torque Cam. Super happy with my bike.

Hi Jack! Yes, both the HP+ and the Race Oil pumps have the seal. Here is a link the the HP+ pump with all the specs, and a paragraph about the seal- www.dkcustomproducts.com/hp-oil-pump-milwaukee-eight-oil-cooled.htm

Can you tell me are you concerned with the run out? I believe you always have to take that into consideration when you’re replacing oil pump cam plates. When you install your new parts, I would be interested in seeing your run out.
@richardrussell500 Жыл бұрын
Run out is definitely an issue... excessive run out will destroy an oil pump.
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
Absolutely need to check runout...never want to be over 5 thousandths. We have an entire video on runout coming out in the next week or so. Also, when we publish the installation of the camplate and oil pump, you will see we check runout.

Thanks guys! I have a 2017 Ultra CVO and I've been worried about this ever since I got the bike. I bought the bike because it only had 5000 miles on it. What I don't like, on my bike there's no way to know the oil pressure. The info screen just says Oil Pressure OK. I don't like that at all. Do you guys know of anyone that has a mod to remove the air temp gauge and install a oil pressure gauge? I have no idea what Harley was thinking there!
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
We have heard rumor that there is a way to get the oil pressure to display instead of just an OK...but we have not been able to track it down. Maybe someone else in the comments has that info? There are more expensive ways to get the oil pressure, like Dakota Digital.
@BT-ih6kr Жыл бұрын
is the new harley oil pump just a direct bolt in? is that a cheaper fix?
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
The new HD pumps range anywhere from $450 to $775, depending on which you get, and for which bike.

I "think" I remember seeing somewhere that the S&S camplate has brass bushings and the Feuling does not. Is this true? Does it make a difference?
@FranBunnyFFXII Жыл бұрын
Yes the S&S has bushings the Feuling does not. The Bushings can be replaced if they wear. The raw aluminium wear cannot be replaced and the camplate would have to be.

@@FranBunnyFFXII Thanks!
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
Yes, the S&S has a bushing. I considered going with that, but sometimes that bushing will spin and block the oil passageway. That can be resolved by pinning it. I did not want to mess with that. The Feuling camplate is made from 7075 Billet Aluminum 50% Harder and Stronger than the Factory Camplate. As long as one does not have too much runout (less than 5 thousandths, the camplate will last longer than most other engine components.

I’ll be curious to see what your run out is after X mileage. I’m assuming you went with Chain Drive not gear drive. Either way , hope it’s less than .003. I’m even OK with the pressed flywheel halves, as long as you’re not making too much power. I just wish Harley would balance their crankshaft prior to installing it into our bikes. Just a quality control thing. I know it’s more money for some number 12 inspector sitting there with his bench mount crank jig with one hand on his dial gauge micrometer, and the other hand with his bud light. Err Coors light. Probably go nowhere..
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
Runout was 2.5. 🙂 Couple videos coming down the pike where we show that. Yeah, the Twin Cams always had me concerned about shifting. Seems to be a thing of the past with M8's. Yeah, would be nicer if they were balanced and pinned.

Do you prefer the Feuling kit over the S&S kit?
@DKCustomProducts3 ай бұрын
I prefer the feuling set ups, seen at this link - www.dkcustomproducts.com/m8-shorty-feuling-sump-plug-25.htm Because they have a shorty sump plug, and I prefer not to take a chance on the bushing in the S&S cam plate spinning. Thank you for commenting! 👍 KP

It is hard to know if higher oil pressure and flow is a good thing or a bad thing without test data and perhaps some specifics relating to the condition of the engine (bone stock , highly modified, etc). I don't know of a way to increase pressure that does not put more heat into the oil, accelerate degradation of the oil, and put a larger parasitic load on the engine. Also, the relationship between cooling and flow rate is roughly a square root relationship (4 times the flow = twice the cooling) so intuition might suggest a higher flow/cooling benefit than what you actually could get. Just thoughts, good video as usual, for my almost bone stock 17 I think I would be more comfortable installing a new Harley pump than one of the high flow/high pressure aftermarkets.
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
The Feuling Camplate and oil pump are stronger material than the OEM, they also have Increased and optimized passages, port holes and galleys, which result in better flow with less parasitic drag. You can see full details at this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/m8-shorty-feuling-sump-plug-23.htm
@jjones6173 Жыл бұрын
@@DKCustomProducts I don't see anything in the details link that compares the parasitic drag between the fueling pump at 27% higher pressure and the oem pump, I don't doubt that it would likely create less drag if it had been designed to operate at the same pressure. They do mention a 2hp gain and a 15-25 degree f reduction in oil temp, understanding the circumstances (engine details & etc) of the tests that provided that data would be very interesting. I also don't know if material strength is a concern in oem pumps. Not arguing, it might be a great pump and if I had a built motor I'd likely go that way, just don't see enough info to necessarily conclude that it is a better choice than new OEM for a near stock engine.
@DKCustomProducts Жыл бұрын
I hear you, and agree. If I had the latest HD pump, I would just use it, along with the shorty sump plug on my Stock, Stage I, or Stage II bike. We have measured that just changing from a Harley Paper Oil Filter to the Permanent Performance filter reduces parasitic drag...AND it filters better. So we know that a well designed piece can function better AND reduce parasitic loss. Feuling will be able to answer your questions regarding their testing and numbers. Thanks for the good conversation! 👍😎👍
