We did similar but went for the Natures Head rather than the Ogo. With no motor or internal wiring or control board there’s less to go wrong in a manual agitator model. Having said that, changing from a cassette to a composting loo is the best thing we’ve done. Last trip we went over 5 weeks of solid use before needing to empty the toilet. As some others have mentioned, we prefer to bag the paper and dispose of it in the bin or on the fire.

Hi, A job well done. It is hard to change something when you don’t have a clue how it’s put together. We still have a chemical toilet and a spare, but we buy the brown paper lunch bags from coles to put the used paper in, into a bag, then into the bin. Works really well and helps my husband out when he cleans the cassette.

We have a 2010 bushtracker, and after a particularly icky trip out of Notch Point with a full cassette, we changed to an OGO, no more being chained to dump points! I went old school and cut up old t shirts into 2 squares size and use them for number ones, Pop the used ones into a screw top plastic container with water and a tiny bit of nappisan, when convenient rinse them out and dry then and reuse! For number 2s, use 3 sheets of paper, torn into single sheets, that stops them getting tangled in the mixing arms.

You’ll love it, compost toilets are great with no negatives. My misses puts wee paper in the bin and family of 4 all put poo paper in the toilet. We use a spray bottle with vinegar after wee to help push all liquid into the container. And the best thing is they don’t smell

With your Pete stuff if you go to Bunnings you can pick the same stuff up which is coconut and bark in a block which is roughly $6 you break what you need into fine powder and follow the rest of the procedure as normal even putting a little water in there to get it going and you can use some Yates insect repellent this will keep little tiny flies away as well

We have a OGO I was very sceptical to use it. But love it now. When you make up the peat only use 3/4 of the dry brick saving the other 1/4 for the next mix. Every 3rd mix you get one free mix. You can buy peat bricks from bunnings and bigw. My husband being tall uses a broad brimmed bottle to wee in so he can still stand up. Then pours into ogo wee cannister. With the toilet paper we just put into ogo using 2 ply toilet paper. If it does get tangled use a stick to unclog it. Does not happen that often. We lasted 25 days and still had roughly 3-4 days left with the 2 ply paper being used. To use the ogo takes a little adjustment but then you will love it. No more looking for dump points

We use brown paper bags for our waste paper, placed in a separate bin. That way you can either dispose of in your normal rubbish or burn them on the campfire each night (if you are permitted one) rather than plastic bags. And no, you don’t notice any smells.

With the pea bucket make sure you use a natural detergent do not use any other chemicals in the number two section as the microorganisms will not work properly. You can get a Yates spray for insects from Bunnings about 2 squirts to keep little pesky flies away that can come in through your air vent. When cleaning the number two section there is no chemicals to use just water and a brush. Go and get yourself a brush for cleaning a thermos which you will find it's easier and better to do. When it comes to ladies personals for the month discard of it as you would at home in a piece of paper and put in rubbish. As for doing number one sometimes the women have to wiggle and maybe slide forward a little bit for better aiming. Try not to over fill with number 1 liquids as this could spill in the van.

Hi guys love watching your videos. We bought an OGO about 2 yrs ago. Have had to remove it twice because of spillage, won't go into detail. I noticed you have glued yours in permanently? Mine is only screwed down with 4 screws, easy to remove and clean. But ours is a stand alone toilet not in the shower. You've made a great choice swapping to a composting toilet we love ours and recommend it to everyone we talk to, thank God no more dump stations. 😊
@Livin_Like_Kings_2 ай бұрын
Yeah I’ve heard of some spills 😳. We actually discussed that at length, and decided that as it’s in the shower, cleaning up spill may not be a huge issue. But time will tell. ☺️
@JohnRasmussen-d8o2 ай бұрын
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ no worries. The main problem is that the gray base isn't sealed and allows any liquid and number 2 to leak under it, in your case trapping it between the ogo base and the floor. Might smell after a while if not cleaned up. The only way to clean up is to remove the whole ogo? See how you go hopefully you won't ever have a problem. Keep up the good work. 😀

Great video and you asked for tips. We put in an OGO about 10 months ago and have been very happy with it until recently. The agitator stopped turning even though the motor could be heard running. Problem was the hole in black plastic cog at the base of the drum had become rounded and no longer driving the hexagonal shaft of the agitator. The supplier told us that this was a design feature to protect the motor. Clearly the load on this cog becomes too high if the bin is too full or has too much water or the agitator arms jam on the side of the bin. The bin tends to an oval shape when full exacerbating this issue. I recommend carrying a spare cog in case this happens to you.

Oh that’s interesting and helpful! Does the supplier stock spare cogs?

Great job guys! Another Brett tip for you (you're probably getting sick of us 😂) re: silicon... spray the silicon with kitchen spray, like spray and wipe type stuff, any brand, and then you can smooth it over with your finger. It won't get stuck on your fingers as much and it helps smooth out the silicon for a pro finish. We are also getting an Ogo and we watched a couple of good vids on how to use. If you haven't seen them, check out Aussie Destinations Unknown, they did a good one recently and also your mates from Roamin In a Ram also had some good tips. Hope it going well. Take care

Great work guys. FYI they arent environmentally friendly. Human waste takes 1-2 years to break down and be safe under ideal conditions. Emptying a compost toilet in a plastic bag and sending it to the tip means it doesnt break down. Cassette toilets get processed and water recycled. You wont see thise details mentioned on the composting toilet manafacturers pages.
