This is a 1986 Ford bronco II XLT with the 2.9 L V6 equipped with the five-speed Mazda manual and transfer case for 2 to 4 wheel. Today I replaced the TFI module, the reason behind replacing this part was because I was having ignition trouble this is a massive part when it comes to these trucks because it always overheated every 15 min. Typically most guys would say you need a TFI module socket in this case I used a 7/32 craftsman socket with a quarter inch ratchet I had no trouble taking out the two screws I laid on top of the truck above it. Therefore it made it very easy for me to take care of the job.Do not drop the screws they are important. Now when taking off the original TFI module I would sand down the area on the back of the distributor and replace it with a heat absorbing on paste on your TFI module. Your AutoZone should carry it. For me this was a super easy swap about $60 well worth it if it fixes your problem!! Thanks
