This video worked great. The Jeep dealer wanted to charge me $220 just to run diagnostics which I had already done for free at an Autozone and knew what the problem was (ESIM). Then they wanted to charge me $80 for the ESIM and another $150 for installation. It took me 20 mins, an ESIM for $32 from autozone and a $10 trim plug remover. So I did for $42 what the Jeep dealer wanted to charge $450

Great video - thanks! I had the check engine light on my '15 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, codes PO440 and PO441. Other youtube videos suggested the evap purge valve on top of the motor. Cheap and easy to replace, so I tried that first, with no luck Then I saw this video, and thought for $30, I'll give that a shot. I know, "troubleshooting" by replacing parts, but I don't have a smoke machine, and it would have been pricey to have someone do the proper troubleshooting. Very easy to do, and the new ESIM did the trick! Had to drive 50-60 miles for the codes to clear, but the CEL is out now! Even with both parts, including the purge valve which wasn't the problem, I'm only out about $70 total, and about 1 hour of time total to replace both parts. Would definitely have cost alot more to have my shop do this. Just wish I had tried the ESIM first... Thanks again!

Did this solve your EVAP issue? How many miles have you driven since? The PCM completes the EVAP leak test after a total of 70 hours of driving time, which can be a few days or months. Each drive cycle hours are stored in the PCM. There is a filter too that is on the EVAP vent port that is changed with the ESIM.
@JoesGarageProductionsLLC5 жыл бұрын
Yes, replacing the ESIM solved the EVAP issue. Oddly, my WiTech scan tool would not turn off the check engine light but the code went from active to stored and the check engine light went off by itself in a week or so and hasn't come back on since. When say filter, are you referring to the charcoal canister? I didn't see a filter back there when I took it apart.
@thegeekdreams5 жыл бұрын
Joe's Garage - I see it in your video at 12:56 minutes. It’s called “Fuel vapor leak detection pump filter - part # 04891564AC.” For exact part on your car, please refer the fuel system diagram by Mopar. Also important, the ESIM works on gravity. It has to be put back in exact same orientation as it came out. Ironically, it will click into place in a 360 degree opposite angle as well.
@JoesGarageProductionsLLC5 жыл бұрын
@@thegeekdreams the part number was obtained based on the model and year of my vehicle. I apologize if I was misleading if I indicated that part number would work for all vehicles. Also, thank you for pointing out the orientation issue!
@thegeekdreams5 жыл бұрын
Joe's Garage : Yes, part numbers are based on Year/Make/Model of the car. So to change the filter next to the ESIM vent port, look up your cars part number for “fuel vapor leak detection pump filter”. A clogged filter, will not allow your ESIM to work efficiently.

got one for you Joe. 2015 grand cherokee. Studder at idle, misfire feels like. So I started from the bottom. Changed spark plugs, coil packs, checked injectors, changed purge valve, checked compression, changed o2 sensors. Im not sure what else to do. Codes are p0303,P2097,P0430,P0305. Noe crazy part is, the misfire codes on 3 and 5 are gone now its 1 and 6... Car runs fine when you are giving it throttle, just stutter and miss at idle. Any advice? Just to confirm, P0303 and P0305 are gone, and now you have P0301 and P0306? What were the compression results for all 6 cylinders? Do you have any unusual ticking coming from either cylinder head? Hey Joe thanks for this, we just got a P0440 on my wifes 2016 JGC overland 3.6 so I will inspect the fuel lines and also replace the ESIM/Oring. I have been noticing some stumbling at idle, would this cause that ? Almost feels like a bad coil or something, maybe not that bad but definitely feels like it may stall at idle sometimes. Question - was your vehicle a 3.6L V6 ?
@JoesGarageProductionsLLC2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, yes this vehicle was a 3.6L V6. A stumble at idle could be a lot of things. Assuming there are no DTCs in the computer, I would start by seeing how dirty the throttle body is and carefully cleaning it. Quite often that resolves idle quality issues. I believe I covered that procedure in another one of my videos where I replace the engine mounts on this same vehicle (throttle body cleaning and spark plug replacement were targets of opportunity there). Let me know if you'd like me to post a link to that video. If you do have DTCs in the computer, please post them so I can give you some further guidance. Any inexpensive OBD-2 code scanner that works on CAN vehicles should be able to extract them.

@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC yes its throwing a P0440 code, no other codes. I erased that code will see if it comes back and will take a look at the purge lines to ensure no cracks. That filler neck seems like a pain, I see it just has a seal sold separately is that the usual common issue or did you just go ahead with the whole assembly? It depends upon the style of the trim clip you're trying to remove. I have two special sets of trim clip pliers.
