NOW you got me with this project. The VW Bus T2 is my personal soul car. Some people have soul animals, we have soul cars. I guess yours is the Lincoln Zephyr, your brothers is that Hudson you equipped with air suspension, mine is the Type 2 T2 Volkswagen. Now its part of the Ramp truck, so the ramp truck is part of my soul! Btw., if you consider these seats a substantial comfort upgrade, how bad could the original ones habe been? 😳

I made floor brackets from boxing bed angle iron to put 2003 bucket seats into 89 K2500 OBS Chevy... Changing back angle included. Perfect seats were free. Used pieces of the original bench brackets welded to the brackets.

Hey Karl! I dunno....that rear window bulkhead is just screaming to be cut out and moved back to form a berthing area above the engine. No need to build corners, just recess it about an inch from the rear of the existing panels.You'd have to build a shelf, but it has window and everything. (a 30+ hour drive?)
@DooDeeDew3 ай бұрын
The seat backs cushion frame seems to hinder your being able to have them lean back, it's more work than anything but you could turn them around, so that the rear part is facing forward, but you would have to separate them from the seat, so that they would lean back without being hindered by the truck wall, it looks like three inches you would gain.
@MrRobertHarrod3 ай бұрын
Hi guys, could you have not cut a square out of the rear baulk head and parcel shelf, spun it around weld it back in to give the seats more movement, 30 something hours is a long time sat in the Same position, subtle movements of the seat imperative to stay comfortable and safe.
@chrisbrown21743 ай бұрын
I know the work is already done... Could you cut the back out of the the cab to gain a bunch of space inside? Maybe even some jump seats in the back or a mini sleeper cab 😎 Most of that box behind the seats is dead space with the LS swap.
@craigjeffs92533 ай бұрын
If the car on the back doesn't come into the rear wings of the cab I'd cut all that crap out and extend the floor all the way back and make it a sleeper . It'd give more room for seating

Nice work as always. One issue with you plates welded to the seat rails is the upholstery wraps under that lower tubing to hold the cover on. You could weld some rod under the tubing to attach the cover on with some hog rings.

Ha! I drive a ‘71 VW Westfalia! The seats are very comfortable in the vehicle they were originally designed for. You just need to cut out the bulkhead behind you!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Curious, possible center console with cupholder and phone chargers? Have you thought about a headrest for the long drives? Those seat backs arent very high. and just a thought but storage compartments under the ramp for luggage and or tools.
@jasonkebic7413 ай бұрын
Also what is in the compartment behind the seat backs? could you not push the seats into it giving you more leg room?

On a completely different note. Suggestion for the baby Buick. How about a 4 cyl bike engine , say about 5 or 600cc. Driving around a car show is one thing, but putting out a good note and doing burn outs is something else. Keep in mind that a 70s air cooled engine will require less room , look better and not have any computerised gadgets. The standard sprockets attached to the smaller wheels should gear it down enough to create an enormous amount of power whilst still being low speed drivable. Imagine a 5 gear burnout.
