The reason that the louvers need to be closed when not in use is to improve aerodynamics and therefore increase range.

The day after you posted this, I happened to find it. I have the same actuator that has failed, as well as the louver in the front is broken. I was wondering if all of those actuators were the same! Second question is, can you 'move' the motors to their start position, and what is the 'home' position for those? I can see that situation failing a few different ways.. :)

Do you know the part number for the actuator? I'm having an issue with my louvers as well.

My rad louvers are also broken. Do you have a part number for the entire box?

You mentioned an annual service. What is the annual Tesla Service? (I have 17MS with 129k miles and I’ve never had an annual maintenance with no issues.) I was told shortly after purchasing the MS they removed the annual maintenance services.

Thanks for the video! Could you have just gone through the frunk if you took the lining out? It looks like that might be the easier method but I guess I'll have to give it a try when my actuator arrives. Also, did you have to do any calibrations to make sure the Louvre was working correctly?

Did this fix the issue??
@AustinEVonly6 ай бұрын
No. I now know why it cost $1000 to fix. The plastic piece that this actuator turns broke off. I tried to glue it back, but the glue didn't hold. One needs to replace the whole air box and it's a PITA to get out. Oh, and the car's horn attaches to the air box. Not sure why they can't reuse the horn, but it makes (a little more) sense why they are quoting a new horn as part of the air box replacement

Maybe it's just me but I really wish this trend of calling tools and car parts 'this guy' would go away. Appreciate the channel though.

Thanks for the feedback. I can't get better without it. Much better than a thumbs down. Yes, I've got this bad habit of calling parts "this sukka". Please subscribe to keep me in check.
