Replacing Universal Joints On My 1991 Peterbilt

Noticed my driveshaft on my 1991 Peterbilt 379 has some play in it. Decided to replace the U-Joint before it gets worse. Pretty easy and straight forward job, Enjoy.

Great job, very good repair. One suggestion I like to do, is use a grease pencil to know nothing moves. 👍👍💚🚛

I never put grease in the caps before installing, is that something you recommend?

There is supposed to be unless the yoke is worn. They should not come out or go back in that easy.

Exactly I watched the video to see how to get them out on the press the easiest way not to see his worn out driveshaft fall apart

Lol your driveshaft is worn out.. you're supposed to press the 2 caps on and you just put them in like it's nothing

No Loctitie? Loctite does several things. First, it is a thread glue preventing a fastener loosening and also a sealant preventing water and salts or other bad stuff getting in and corroding the threads making it very difficult to remove later.

Spicer u-joints come with the thread locker already on the bolts, at least all of them I’ve ever put in did.
