The ES2 system didn’t work for me when I first got my Taylor. But once you understand that you need to set your guitar to the detents or 12:00 for volume, bass, and treble and then set your amp or sound board eq. An LR Baggs para Accoustic DI would have been your best route to go. The ES2 is amazing once you realize how your bass, treble, and volume nobs on your Taylor work. Once you set it to the flat eq setting then left and right is adding or subtracting bass and treble.

The best upgrade one can do with their Taylor guitar. I made this swap on my 714ce and the amount of complements I've gotten on the plugged in sound ever since tells me it was absolutely the right move.

Great video! I have been in the same shoes as you.. blog after blog looking for someone who had done this. So thankful you made this video! Btw where did you buy the extension cable for the cable to reach the pre-amp? Thanks

So how does it sound? Follow up video?

Nice explanation and pretty straightforward. So by removing the logic circuit board which the 9V battery uses to actually power up the preamp only while a cable is plugged in, you essentially have the preamp running 24/7. Correct? Also, next time definitely angle that drill bit more steep so the piezo strip does not pinch. Lastly, for your own safety, never use a razor to cut a wire and especially with fingers so close to the blade and towards your body! Although a wire cutter/stripper is best method, even a scissor would have been better.

You did cero research in what would be the best solution for you guitar, the anthem is not the best solution for a GTe i own 3 taylors so i know what im talking about. I would have invested for the same price in Taylor Sense, nux optima air and a 0.50 allen key to tight the 3 screws of the SE-2. And make it sound better, if more cash in pocket i would go for the voiceprint DI instead.

you should have just gotten the Anthem SL instead. It would have fit on top just fine

Just buy a Martin with an Anthem and be happy for the rest of your life.

It's a very simple task. You see what you haft to remove. Remove it, and install the other pickup. I suppose if your not mechanically inclined. fixing and repairing something might be difficult. But your not building a Rolex Watch. You'd be taking an existing pickup system out and swapping for another. The younger guys of today have no insight of repairing things. They have to find tutorials to show them how.. then post their accomplishment looking for accolades and an ( Ad A Boy ) but, atleast you reached your goal.

😂 @liberalsrmentallyflawed3611 got what they deserved. The fact that this YT has 820 views, proves it has some value to some other Taylor Guitar owner out there. I guess that most live performers just record to a mic instead of using the ES2 because they don't want to damage the original guitar. I am wondering if plug in via the ES2 and into something like a Nux Optima Air IR/Preamp pedal to improve the overall plain ES2 sound?
