Instead of the external camera simply following the aircraft in formation, there needs to be an option for a ‘plane spotters’ view. From a distant point on the airfield, it tracks/watches your aircraft on the airfield from a vantage point, its takeoff run and rotation and flying off - and the final approach to the airfield to watch the flare, landing and rollout, taxi etc. The lack of a plane spotters view option is a significant oversight (pun) in the whole replay concept.

@@luchsegamer8112 X-plane does it all. It is automatic, there is no indication that it is on. Unlimited camera angles....and it comes with X-plane. Did U hear that MSFS?

When I compare replay mode between MSFS and x-plane, I'm reminded of just how inept ASOBO's team really is. In the x-plane, the feature is a thing of function and simplicity.

Yeah it's so frustrating. One sim has one thing that the other doesn't and vice versa. In a perfect world, I wish Laminar and Microsoft would join forces and create a perfect sim.

I think the keyframing option in the asobo replay tool is pretty powerful for creating cinematic shots for msfs

Brandon - thanks for another great video! MSFS has SO MANY fantastic feautures - but why does it not have a stunning replay feature - as one would expect? Is it a fundamental technical issue, which just cannot be resolved? Xplane has a simple easy to use instant replay feature - so why does MSFS not?

The replay feature is the reason I still use X-Plane (and the camera views in general for that matter). Asobo's idea of it is such an abomination it makes me wonder if they don't understand what people actually use it for. How hard can it be to log flight data and allow it to be replayed and looked at from whatever frikkin camera I want to. If I want to record what the camera sees I can use other software for that. I think they've tried to make a cinematic recording tool and by doing so screwed up the basics of a replay tool. The camera should have nothing to do with it.

Thanks for this description on the replay option. I have recently switched from FSX, a new really good gaming computer and so far I’m enjoying it. With FSX replay it would not replay after crashing. Which I find ridiculous. It’s like the TSB finding the black boxes then throwing them in the garbage! My question is does this version allow replays of crashes? I would find it very instrumental in seeing just where things went wrong and how to avoid it next time. Thanks for your great instructional videos, they are very informative! 👍🍺🇨🇦

A couple of questions: does this work with 3rd party aircraft now?? And how do you move your cockpit view so slowly to the sides ? For me it's a very abrupt movement so I end up moving my view way more than I wanted. How do I slow it down ??

Are you able to export the replay file from MSFS replay tool into a video editor? If not, then does that mean that you would actually need to record your screen capture software on top of the recording from the replay tool? That seems like it would be incredibly taxing to the system...

The most perfect replay is there on DCS WORLD ( Digital Combat Simulator ). Why ASOSBOs don t learn, don t copy and use the same system? Its just one click : WATCH TRACK !!!

Msfs is a CPU bounded app, in most cases it just doesn't matter how good your graphic card are. If you can, try to use a AMD x3d processor like 5800x3d or 7800x3x, if not, try to reduce the terrain detail setting, it worked for me.

Ive had a few glitches. Was flying the YMF5 from Carenado and tried to record my takeoff and for some reason it triggered the stall horn sound and it never turned off right after takeoff. It did this every time i tried, even when I made sure to have plenty of airspeed when I was flying to prevent triggering the stall horn.
