This was the first Metal Slug game I ever played as a gamer. It was also the first game I dared to try on the hardest difficulty. The final mission of this game is extremely dangerous. After all, the willingness of enemies to attack on the highest difficulty level is unmatched by level 4 enemies.

絶滅寸前のアクションゲームというジャンルにおいて孤軍奮闘する「メタルスラッグ」シリーズの第3弾。今作は基本的に「メタルスラッグ2」のリメイク版となっているが、敵の配置を変更し難易度が上がった一方で、その部分を「アイアンリザード」「ドロップショット」などのアイテムの追加、パワーアップ化によって上手く補っており、「よりコアなファン」をターゲットにした内容となっている。もちろん操作方法は8方向レバーと3つのボタンを使用。その他、細かいところではナレーターが変更になったり、ヴォイスの種類が増えていることがあげられる。アクションジャンルの存続が危ぶまれる中、このシリーズだけは何作でも続編が出そうな勢いを感じるのが凄いところ。全6ステージ。

Originally released to improve upon some of the problems the previous Metal Slug game ("Metal Slug 2 - Super Vehicle-001/II") had, most notably its notorious slowdown, this update also implemented several changes to beef up the gameplay, such as new enemies, a different end boss layout and a number of new weapons and secrets. The result is a better game and one of the finest chapters in this series.
