コナミから登場したバブルシステム第1弾作品の縦スクロールシューティングゲーム。プレイヤーはツインビー(ウィンビー)を操作して、各ステージのボスを倒して進んでいく。雲の中に隠されているベルは、ショットで撃つと色が様々に変化して取るとパワーアップする。これまでにないインパクトのあるバリア、2人同時プレイ時の縦横の合体フォーメーション攻撃など、新しい要素が盛りだくさんのコミカルシューティングゲームの名作である。そのコミカルなゲームデザインが受け、カップル・女性層など幅広いプレイヤーに好まれ、コナミの看板作品になるだけでなく、その後の会社の方向性までも決定付けることになった。
ストーリー:
ある日突然、平和なドンブリ島にスパイス大王率いる軍隊が現われ島を占領してしまった。島の外れに住む科学者シナモン博士は、5つの島を取り戻すため、TwinBee、WinBeeと言うユニークな戦闘機を作り、2人の息子を立ち向かわせた。

An overhead scrolling game starring a pair of bee-shaped robots, Twinbee (the blue one) and his female counterpart Winbee (the pink one), Twin Bee is part of what are called 'cute 'em ups', a slang for shoot-em-up games that feature cute characters, animals and other funny looking creatures, among other whimsical themes and brightly colored landscapes. It's a fun game to play with at least 6 stages that repeat themselves with increased difficulty as you go along.
Power-ups and extra points can be found in special bells hidden in some enemies that, when shot a certain number of times, will change color and then, when touched by the player, will provide a powerup, such as extra speed.

Twin Bee was released in March 1985.
This is the first title using Konami's Bubble System Board.
Alfa Records released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Konami Game Music Vol.1 - 28XA-85) on June 25, 1986.
TIPS AND TRICKS -
Formation Bonus : If you take out all enemies in a formation, you get bonus points.
Yellow bell bonus : If you keep on picking up yellow bells, you earn increasing bonus points. The bonus will increase up to 10,000 points. But if you miss picking up even 1 bell in the process, the bonus drops to 500 points.
If you keep on shooting a bell : The bell will break and turn into a bee! Be careful.
Change the color of a bell as you wish : The color of a bell changes after every 5 shots
5 -- white
10 -- blue
15 -- green
20 -- red
The Multiple and Barrier cannot be used together : When you have your Multiple, the Barrier (red bell) will not be available. When you have your barrier, the multiple (green bell) will not be available.
If you take out enemies on the ground : Fruit items will appear. Pick them up to get bonus points. Strange items will appear every once in a while.
Call an ambulance : When you get one of your hands destroyed, get your other hand destroyed (if you can afford it) to call an ambulance.

当時は一ゲーム50円で楽しめ、本当毎日学校終わりに楽しんだものでした。懐かしい!‼単純だからこその面白さがありましたね‼

The beginning of a wonderful series of shmups that ended with an RPG. Also the only other Konami game I know of that has the bubble system hardware Morning Music startup song.

これも当時のシューティングゲームの傑作の一つですねえ。赤ベル取ろうとしたら間違えて緑ベルを取ってしまったとかあったなあ(笑)

このアーケードのバリアは利にかなっている。 はじめはでかくて避けづらくなるのがよい。

@@marioghernandez4960 I don't know the exact reason, but it's maybe because the system needed to warm itself up before booting, so it's like a bubble, needs to inflate itself? Idk

Morning Music gives it away, that same song plays in Gradius, and was brought back for the DS Konami collection.

@@marioghernandez4960 Like Clark G. Said, The Konami Bubble System was the first and only (AFAIK) arcade system that used a type of non-voltaile magnetic storage called Bubble Memory. It uses a magnetically-controled 2D plane to move 'bubbles' within it, each bubble containing 1 bit of data. The problem was that the modules would only work properly within 40-50°C, requiring the arcade board to include a warm-up routine so the modules can function properly, leading to the creation of the lovely "morning music" song and the iconic "WARMING UP NOW" screen. Also, the arcade board had to heat up the modules and copy the module's data into RAM because the technology wasn't fast enough for direct access. And in typical arcade cabinets for the time, large degaussing speakers and CRTs easily led to the modules getting corrupted because of it's magnetic nature, leading to Konami redesigning the boards to use flash storage cartridges instead, which is particularly ironic considering this was a technology proposed as an alternative to such. The system was discontinued before it made its way into the US. Nowadays it's rare to find a machine with it's original bubble memory cartridges intact and functional.
