Disney is turning into Six Flags. Universal, however, is turning into the new Disney

When I was a kid going to WDW for the first time, stepping onto Tom Sawyer island was MY version of entering Diagon Alley at Universal. That was MY childhood book adventure coming to life. Whose childhood dream is stepping into a Cars movie that hasn’t come out yet? Is Cars even relevant anymore? I’d say Rom Sawyer is relevant as it is classic American literature. Oh wait I answered my own question regarding why they want to get rid of it with that statement.

Part of Disney’s issue is caring too much what adults think, instead of building attractions that appeal to children. No child wants to play in an ugly fort, when they can get a shiny new ride built just for them.

bugs life and Dinosaur were things i lived on as a child, they were always playing (the obsession hasnt faded 25 years later). it always makes me sad that to think that everything i love is getting torn down in the name of fast profit that isnt timeless. a lot of these IPs and themes held the test of time (looking at YOU Tianas Bogus Atrocity).

I used to love going to Disneyland multiple times a year. Have not been in over 10 years. Very sad. I just want to go to Disneyland again like it used to be before cell phones and all the upcharges.

The upcharges, mandatory cell phone use, and line management have all turned me off from going to Disney parks too. I don't mind the IP getting shoved in everywhere, but I do mind seeing whales hogging ride capacity..

Replacing Tough To Be A Bug with Zootopia was a stupid idea in the first place. If you dig inside the roots of a tree, you’re not gonna find an entire flipping metropolis you’re gonna find bugs so what they should’ve done instead is make an entirely new Bugs Life show without the spiders dropping of course, instead of replacing it with Zootopia. Put Zootopia over in California Adventure it fits that park more than Animal Kingdom anyway.

If I had to use horse sense here, I'd say the villains attraction at HS is just a placeholder. This is a test bed for what they might be able to do in a fully fleshed out villains land at MK. I don't look for this to be a permanent installation, so ppl shouldn't get REAL comfy about it staying. In addition it's soemthing Halloween related to at least spice up the season a bit-

@@ChienaAvtzon actually that went in way way way before they decided on a cars land- so it's not a placeholder. It was put in there for kids so they'd have soemthing to do on that end of the park.

I know it must cost a ton to move but DL star tours needs to move to galaxys edge. Fill that land and let Tomorrowland look more abandoned so they can finally work on that instead of DCA 😑

I think the villains show is behind the scenes meant to train up a core group of live action villain characters for the upcoming land.

Rivers Of America is actually got a lot of problems/nostalgia aside my older brother brought up a great point that the only reason he could think of them doing this is because Money / Security purposes. But mainly money

The villains show makes perfect sense as a "test run" to have something they can get on the swing, the move to the theoretical new land. Plus it counts as one of the two "attractions" that are standard for entire new lands..

I knew Dinosaur was closing, and so was any attraction in Dinoland since the whole land is changing into a new one. I knew "It's Tough to be a Bug" was closing which I actually agree with cause it's outdated since A Bug's Life is getting old and forgotten, and Zootopia is even more logical in Animal Kingdom. But one I did not know was closing that I am sad about is the river boat in Magic Kingdom.

Removing rivers of America is virtual slap in the face by the imagineers to take more and more Walt and his ideas out of the park. Secretly They want to remove America. They will end up taking out all Disney references. Hopefully Iger gets the boot by the stock holders.

Considering Disneyland Paris, which was designed by the greatest Imagineers, does not have a Tom Sawyer Island proves the Imagineers understood that Magic Kingdom’s was a waste of space. They put Big Thunder Mountain on the island, causing the steamboats to be part of the attraction, rather than just ambience. Walt Disney did not design Magic Kingdom. That park has no legacy or identity, aside from being a knockoff Disneyland. He would have been horrified at just how poorly designed Magic Kingdom’s Rivers of America is, in comparison to Disneyland’s.

@@ChienaAvtzon they are/were building a New Orleans square around Tiana's to finish out the project. That's why they just had to put it there. It didn't make sense without the water. Tiana is not supposed to be a stand alone ride that doesn't fit in with ANYTHING around it.

Well, if it’s not really that popular then it’s acceptable to change. If it’s already popular then an acceptable change has to be something that is most definitely popular and is respected to the popular movie, otherwise it will be like if they got rid of monsters Inc and bring back Superstar Limo (Just making a joke mostly because products that are made cheaply they will fail). Anyways, it would kind of be base if to respect popularity is to be an expansion or replace the ride with something popular without getting rid of the elements that make the movie popular, then it could be acceptable. However, unpopular areas can be changed or moved, but if the change already happened and it’s based on something that hasn’t really happened yet then how could they know it will stay for a long time if there is a possibility of that show being a failure which also makes the ride tie into the failure. They should have actually either picked something that everybody would see acceptable or actually make sure the show is actually going to be popular before replacing the ride. Anyways, that’s basically a criticism of TBA, wait a minute that’s funny Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the same initials as To Be Announced, it just seem like it’s done cheap and you know when Disney does something cheap it fails. Shows could hide being cheap but actual rides if done cheap they won’t last over a year.

Classic Disney celebrates Liberty and the rewards of hard work. That’s what Frontierland is all about. “Modern” Disney is Socialist and Socialists denigrate freedom and hard work and believe all people must give up the idea of freedom and join the masses who are ruled, guided, and controlled through life by their betters in the “Scientific Government” who rule for the “greater good of all.” Therefore, anything that celebrates freedom must be suppressed and eventually memory-holed. That’s what this is. The True Enlightenment of the Modern Age is the Freedom of the Individual, not the yoke of the collective. The bozos running Disney will fight this idea tooth and nail.

Exactly…. not to mention to expand Magic Kingdom, in any manner, the Rivers of America needs to be drained. The rivers’ shape is impractical, and a complete waste of space, in its current form. Plus, the islands are not accessible and you cannot even bring a stroller onto it. Which defeats the entire purpose of having a kiddie play area.

Liberty Boat, yes tragedy no arguments there, Tom Sawyer island, less of a tragedy more due to it's association of location, Lightning McQueen, show replacement no biggy, Tough to be a Bug, ditto being replaced, Dinosaur, Indy is coming, Triceratop Spin, yeah this carnival ride has to go since the land no longer exists maybe there will be Indy Churros!, Boneyard, if you want a playground take your kids to a playground not Disney World for a playground, Red Car Trolley, is anyone really crying over this leaving? Buzz Lightyear, not Disney closing the Oriental Land Company is closing... and it's being replaced with Wreck It Ralph, Launch Bay, yeah that meet and greet is largely not needed don't get me wrong nice place to be when it's hot outside, and Mike & Sully's yeah it's going, new stuff (supposedly) is coming. Overall there's 1-2 things that are actually removing things from parks.
