Rich Rod will bring the toughness back to WVU football. We have lacked that edge for a long time now. Neal was everything but tough. This is WV, though, and the softness doesn't cut it. I'm tired of having smoke blown up my ass by a coach who is in over his head. I'm ready for a tough, take charge coach who brings a hard edge culture of winning. That is WV football! Rich Rod is that.
@pitchshot28682 күн бұрын
Besides wins and loses the RR WVU team will be tough, in condition and disciplined. The days of celebrating after a routine play are gone. Celebrating only when the time is right. The ME attitude will be gone for TEAM and if not one will not be part of the RR team.
@Derek-kj9mt3 күн бұрын
A lot of guys we could have hired would've been driven by ambition to make their career. Rod is the only one who will be driven by redemption. Redemption burns a much stronger fire inside than simple ambition.
@hughglass96183 күн бұрын
No, it’s money the same reason he left.
@pitchshot28682 күн бұрын
What does he have to redeem? He left for reasons only fans can speculate. He left a team with a winning record. Just some silly hillbilly idea of the TRAITOR BS is that what is meant by redemption. It was 17 years ago and WVU has done very little in the W category since then. This is a business and if RR is given 6 years like the CLOWN who just got fired then RR has to WIN or he will be gone to. 6 years of the NB BS and Baker for the last 2 is a lot to handle on the negative side.

Not many coaches who have left programs and returned have had success in the 2nd stint. I am glad that both sides get to bury the hatchet and let the past go. Pat Mcafee must be putting his money where his mouth is.

Two examples off the top of my head are Bill Snyder and Greg Schiano. Mack Brown’s second stint at UNC was decent. But, it does fail more times than not. That being said, it’s a lot about timing and I think now is the perfect time to bring him home.

Earthether, your comment around the 14:00 mark is what fans who are excited about RR should strive to show to each other instead of telling us to get over it and deal with it. Some fans just are not going to resonate with this hire at face value, and that's okay. Most fans are not saying that they are going to boycott the football program (some are, but a small margin) to where its going to hurt ticket sales. I never said I was not going to attend games or watch games. I just don't agree with it and need to see results first. With that being said, one of the unfortunate things about our fanbase is showing with this hire and that is those who get overly zealous in getting what they wanted and have to down others in the process. Our shitty fanbase would be the thing that would drive me away from being a fan faster than any Head Coach hire.

The elephant in the room? Apologizing for what??? He saw an opportunity and took it. There's a few messy things that happened according to ken kedrick which could have prevented his departure. Too many fans hero worship coaches and athletes. Then when something happens they don't like they turn on them in a hot second. Emotional attachments are best left with family and friends. RR left a legacy and level of excellence unparalleled in WVU football history. Either your a WVU fan/ supporter or your not. BTW how many people on this discussion thread live out of state or have family out of state that are mountaineers/claim wv is still home? Leaving the state for opportunities makes you a traitor??

I may not be an expert on sports, but I know what a true fan is. A true fan supports the team that they love, through the good and bad times. Obviously, you don’t have to agree on everything. If the team isn’t going where it should, you can make your opinion heard, to hopefully rally change. That’s what happened with NB. You burning your stuff, proves you’re just a casual, or even worse. You call yourself a patriot, but real patriots never give up. How can you just give up, after something doesn’t go your way. Majority of the country doesn’t take us seriously, you just reinforce their beliefs about us. Do you think our forefathers during the American Revolution, just gave up after things didn’t go their way, after their own families betrayed them, after generals they trusted to lead betrayed them, no they kept going. Benjamin Franklins own son sided with the British, he could have thrown in the towel and “burned his shit”, but he didn’t he doubled down, and kept going because he believed in the cause. You, and everyone else who hate RR are just selfish, I understand and share the sentiment, I don’t have the highest faith, but I also believe in second chances. If he fails then he fails. I’m not going to sit here, and hope the entire state fails, just because something didn’t go your way. I love this state, it’s my home. I will always want our teams to succeed, I want us to win championships, I want our team to be good, I want the country to take us seriously and prove them wrong. I hope RR brings life back to the program, university, state, along with the Mountaineer fans across the country and world.
