Injuries is a fair point to raise imo - look at Newcastle, top 4 team last year and now their defence has conceded as much as ours has. Look at spurs in their injury period, conceded tonnes of goals. And we have had worse crises You can’t have half the team out and expect to compete. Despite this we got a cup final, are in the semi finals of the FA cup and somehow still have a shot of 6th and if not it’s a fair assumption that we will end up 7th/8th given games in hand and the run in. Poch in - although I was tested with Gallagher on the wing, never want to see that again

Because Poch isn't even near our biggest problem. Yes, there have been some issues with him but he's done the best he can given the framework we've given him. The coach should be the cherry on top of a well run club, not the first person to get hit with the blame when those above him are failing him. The sheer amount of players we've had out consistently should be enough to cut him some slack. I really hope we go out into the market for some leadership players

A manager is easier to change than 11+ players. If both are an issue, then we should be looking to change both, it doesn't need to be mutually exclusive. But with the players in our case everyone know they are young and need time. The manager though is 52, and has had lot of time elsewhere. We can certainly do better. Even the ones who wanted him mostly admitted he wasn't the long term solution.

I love how people who want Poch in have falllen for the puppy dog, im the victim routine he continually espouses. Poch was working with the directors well before the season started. He was aware of incoming players and those leaving. The guy is not a victim. He has direct responsibility for our on the pitch results. No tactics, no mentality, no fit players, no success. Amorim to Liverpool is almost a horror scenario for me. I really believe in that guy and I really wanted him to be the manager after Poch. Well, at least Fonseca is still available. Other than him the available managers get increasingly less interesting and/or risky. While I initially was opposed to De Ligt because of his high price tag and our abundance of CBs. However, since Chalobah is still supposed to be sold (as far as I'm aware) and Badiashile playing so badly I have come to the point that I wouldn't mind signing De Ligt. Should that happen then I think it's absolutely NECESSARY to sell Badiashile and Chalobah in order to free up the space, minutes and money.

For me I just think Poch's style is fundamentally not very compatible with our current squad profile - I feel like there must be other managers that are better tactical fits elsewhere. When Poch came in I was actually excited because he has a good reputation of being a good couch for young players, but TBH I do not see evidence of our young players being well coached or drilled or even developing substancially. I would be open to giving him the start of next season to see if things improve but if he got sacked tomorrow I would totally be ok with it I REALLY believe in this squad, it actually excites me when I look at the players we have but that just makes the fact we've been bottom half all season even more baffling. I didn't ever want Amorim but I think he'll fit Liverpool well, would've been up for Motta but it looks like that won't happen. About a year ago I didn't want anything to do with Brighton anymore so wouldn't even entertain RDZ, but more recently I've been a bit more open to the idea of him - obviously he's worked with players like Misha, Levi and Moises before but I think he'd also do really well with someone like Madueke (I saw a post about that earlier today on 'Twitter' that I agreed with). But we've been absolutely woeful in defence this season and RDZ is not exactly a manager renowned for defensive stability so I do have concerns about that. Nagelsmann was my first choice last summer but recent reports make it seem like thats not on the cards. Who does that leave? Xavi? hard to say really as for Matthijs de Ligt it would be an exciting transfer imo but ultimately it's about cost and wage - I imagine there are better options, people I've never heard of haha is that money better spent on an elite striker? or a left back? or GK? What positions would you prioritise allocation of spending on this summer? I think a problem I have is that I don't really have much clarity on our spending ability in the summer. Every week I hear reports that we're on the brink of a massive points deduction and then the next day I hear we're ready to spend 100 mil on whoever. I guess we just have to wait. Love the videos!

I'd take De Ligt considering Fofana's injury record. But Motta over Amorim surely. However, Motta's tactical profile is very niche, just like De Zerbi tbf (not in terms of actual tactics but in terms of how uniquely both set their teams up). And those extremely niche tactical setups haven't really worked for a big team ever. Giving me Sarri flashbacks really.

I’m honestly 50/50 on poch because at the end of the day we have improved (not as much as we would like) we’re on the same points that we finished with last year. Massively improved against the big teams in fact should have beaten both arsenal at home and city away. Been In a cup final and in a semi final. All with the biggest prolonged injuries I think a top flight club has seen. In fact we’ve not been out of a injury crisis since 21/22 but it’s been worse this year. Lavia, nkunku and Fofana were key players that have been needed. I also think we should be looking at winstanley and Stewart positions first as they’ve both made stupid decisions like signing only youth. That said poch mistakes are all there to see and worry trends like always starting slow in the second half and defensively being shocking. I say leave him in to the end of the season if we get some type of European football then great if not sack him.

Our defensive frailties are actually not as systemic as you think. We can all point to at least two individual defensive errors per game. Stop trying to pin every issue on the manager. We started the season with one of the best defenses but not scoring goals. It was more of a possession system. We couldn’t score goals to save our lives or actually keep possession properly. Then Poch switched it up to allow for more of a transitional football. It benefitted the attackers but our defense simply kept making errors. We’ve been carved through in a couple games but since then, it’s been almost single-handedly down to individual errors. My main concern is that Poch tends to be more reserved than we would like in key moments. I pin that on him, but I don’t think it’s fair to pin every issue on him. We didn’t support him in the summer and now want to complain when the football doesn’t go accordingly.

Pochettino has had time elsewhere(5+ years at Spurs, near 2 at PSG; not wanted at both). He's 52, and also has had near a season at Chelsea. It's enough sample size to say he isn't elite. The main question for those in favour of keeping him is, what do we do if it doesn't turn after even giving him the time? Sounds like wasted seasons then. There's a reason managers aren't handed a too long contract. Don't get me wrong, I backed Potter till the last day(even think he would've done better than MP this season), but there always has to be certain line drawn. Say if we get Tuchel back(who had us top 4 twice) and still flail in mid table then it would be more evident and stronger argument for the manager to stay. But until we try it, it's tough to say (remember no one has had this group apart from Pochettino; likes of Palmer, Gusto (current top performers) and more only joined last summer).

Tough spot for the club with the manager. If there isn’t a clear upgrade, do you want to put the players through another restart? However, I agree with your sentiment as it regards Chelsea not showing any tangible improvements throughout the season. I’m not asking for major wins against league leaders right now. But we just aren’t seeing any resemblance of a system or structure. Given it’s now the second week in April, that’s very frustrating as we are continuing to struggle against opposition we should be able to manage (even with a young squad). I feel for him a little, because I do think a healthy Reece, Nkunku and Lavia has us a few positions higher in the table right now. But, it still doesn’t relieve the concern I have about Pochetino being void of alternative ideas help make the team more difficult to score against. I think the club will stick with Pochetino, unless he just loses the locker room. I’m not thrilled about it, but I also see the reasoning behind it.

No Elite, World-Class managers will join us. Not even decent ones like Nagelsmann and Amorim will come to us. And why would they? Have you looked at our "Project?" Do you know how much patience is needed to make it successful? I'm sure even the Arsenal owners thought about sacking Arteta at the start after poor results. But they didn't because no world class managers would join that club at that point. They stuck with him, and they will reap the rewards NOW. But we will make it to 4 appointments in 2 years though! Moreover, a section of this fanbase? The less said about it the better. Roman Abramovich ain't here anymore, but a few are still hungover from that era and demand similar results. That's alright though, none of these younger ones know a thing about stability, how to build a successful squad, what it's like to be patient, etc. and now they throw their toys like a spoilt brat when they don't get what they demand. I hope this ownership can show some balls and back us properly in the summer, get a few world-class players in to speed up this "project", or we are the new Arsenal Fan TV in full flow. I wonder if Potter would have gotten the extra time to "sort it out" if he didn't lose the dressing room. Despite our performance woes, this young group seems to admire Poch, just look at the celebrations in the Man Utd game. I know that wasn't the case with Potter as we had a more experienced and vocal group last season.

I can’t stand how football has become such a brutal game for managers and players. There’s very little room for anyone to do their job correctly because of the immense pressure. I understand money plays a big role in this but the amount of spending by these clubs is even more of a problem in the modern game that causes almost a disease at clubs 🤦

I think our season would have gone better with Caicado as a fullback and Disasi in the pivot. He is the beefiest and most imposing player on the pitch. He seems relatively comfortable with the ball to work in those spaces. And Caicado as a fullback would work better than Disasi. I think it's been a big missed opportunity to have some physicality slightly higher up the pitch.

My main criticism for him is that while we do look generally good in 70% of the match, we concede too many goals in the random game moments we aren't controlling. Some of it has to do with the injuries and how players aren't familiar with each other so it impacts the spaces between players and lines in transition. But it can be made better tactically. Our overall gameplay has improved so much since last season and it is well reflected in our underlying numbers. It's just that we lose control in crucial game moments and end up conceding 2-3 amazing chances with not so much pressure from the opponent. Going by underlying numbers, we have the fourth best attack and fifth best defence in the league. Almost resembling how Arsenal were half decent at general play during Arteta's first full season but finished 8th because they let too many goals in with scanty but good transition chances. I don't think De Zerbi or Amorim get us playing better football, however, maybe they can control those moments of tactical uncertainty better than Poch and get us more points.

A coach like Flick has the right mentality for this project he completely backs himself and seems to be the type that would see this as an opportunity to be seen globally as a top 5 manager rather than a top German coach. smashed records at Bayern where the ownership is even more controlling, IMO we should have gotten a 2 season temp with a similar system to him so Flick could come in this summer with a prepped squad. The decision asking at the top is laughable

Can’t say i’m upset at all that he’s off the table for us, interested to see how he does at Liverpool tho, could be brilliant and that could hurt, but it would be easy to forget how much more complete the liverpool team he’s going in to is compared to us.

The way Chelsea are playing is a disaster and the coach is 100% responsible for that. There is no pattern of play and every game it looks like the players dont understand what they are supposed to be doing, cmon its ridiculous. This whole season if you watched every game there are consistent coaching mistakes that are very basic. Wingers dropping back further than the midfielders to get the ball. The team doesnt press together leaving a wide gap between the attackers and the defense with Caicedo staying back and Gallagher and Enzo by the attackers.

To be fair, getting Spurs to a CL final is quite an achievement. Poch did show then that he can improve players. Coach them up then bring in a big winner manager when these players are ready.

@@pointeddown Pochettino at PSG had the worst winning percentage in last 11 years. Worse than Laurent Blanc and Galtier. With Messi too. He won nothing at Spurs 5+ years(that's time) while even Arteta managed an FA Cup within 6 months. Pochettino is 52, Pep is 53. Now compare the trophies. He's nowhere near elite. Before PSG, Potter had more trophies than him. Anything we can do with him, we can do with any other semi-decent manager. He's earning Ancelotti level money.

@@hnaku8748 but my point is did the trio of super stars at PSG achieve anything with any other manager? Is Harry Kane winning silverware year after year. If you point the finger at one person on a team you have to look at others too. All your facts are true but so are mine. Where are the endless trophies that Mbappe, Neymar and Messi have playing together? Where are Kane’s ( I’m a fan of his btw. So I’m not hating). I just don’t think it’s fair to site all these situations which are clearly more than just one person’s fault, and claim that Poch is to blame for all of it. I’m VERY frustrated at the inconsistency of the team. But constantly sacking managers is not how Liverpool, Arenal and City got to be so good for so long. Let’s try something new!

I like Poch, I do. Would many other managers have done better this season I'm not sure. I don't know as I've never seen a documentary or whatever on him. He might not be as commanding over a group of players as say Pep is. But he's done okay. Defensively we have been terrible. There was a sky sports thing the other day I think Brentford and Newcastle are the only 2 clubs with worse injury records this season. Both of them have gone way down in their league positions and yet Chelsea's is actually currently higher than last season. Yeah we had a poor injury record last season to. But Poch is doing an okay job. He could still easily get us 6th or 7th. Which to me is a good achievement with this new squad. When people talk long term football projects they mean 3+ years. This "project" has been spoken about/implemented in January last year. So this is still very much the "short term" of this project. So it needs to be given time and constantly sacking managers is only going to make things worse if you ask me.
