Reports of racial tensions in Hartbeespoort

The North West government is investigating alleged racial tensions in Hartbeespoort. This follows allegations that Afrikaans-speaking individuals torched properties belonging to black-owned businesses to force them out of the area. Businessman Hartley Ngoato and Harties Community Development's Russell Baloyi have more.

A full investigation must be done about the Hartbeespoort Dam. We need investigative journalists, some aerial views marking properties that belong to the government, and also indicating which properties are occupying government land illegally. Action must be taken swiftly and promptly. The weakest link in this whole story is the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Minister Pemmy Majodina please show some leadership, don’t be an embarrassment.

Newsroom, here are relevant basic questions: Is it only black businesses that were burnt? Where black people were refused to build permanent structures coz the land belongs to the government, were white people allowed to build at the same time, other than golf courses and harbours coz those seem to be major investments approved by the municipality. Whenever there is a fact brought forward, we need to understand the opposite side of it. This is important in informing or in journalism.
