A beautiful build of the world's greatest machine. 365 feet tall, 6.3 million pounds at liftoff, 7.5 million pounds of thrust from the booster (first stage). 20 were built, 17 launched successfully and three unused now on display. In two weeks I will be visiting the the rocket center in Huntsville Alabama and see the Saturn 5 there. Of the three on display this is the only one standing as it did at liftoff. Man I can't wait!
@MoonwalkerModels Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It was an amazing machine for it's day. Still amazes me, and others Im sure, as to the sheer size of it! It's awesome that you going to see the upright version! I used to live in Montgomery Alabama. But I can never find time to make it to Huntsville! Enjoy your trip and have fun. That's what it's all about! 😊

Thanks! Yeah, there are some inaccuracies. But, it still builds nicely! I don't swear the small stuff! Major issues, yeah, I'll fix! You just pick a version of the one you want to do, Apollo 11, 12, 13...... And go from there! Funny thing, in the video I said I wasn't going to tackle the LEM at that time! But, I haven't opened the box I stored it in since! 🤔🤷😂

@MoonwalkerModels2 жыл бұрын
@@thebobloblawshow8832 I would definitely recommend that kit! But you had to pay close attention to the instructions which are vague at best. Because there are holes that are not meant to be drilled out. I found that out the hard way and had to patch it. The kid has been re-released since I built mine but they are still getting rare and expensive! Good luck in your search and your build my friend. I am always here if you have any questions. The capsule was painter with Vallejo metal color chrome and the silver accents on the command module was painted with Vallejo model air aluminum!

Did the manufacturer design that S-II stage accurately? The engine nozzles look all spread out. They look clustered much more closely on the actual stage.

Hi there, just a quick question if I may? And that was not it. 😊 I'm getting back into modelling and buying pretty much every Saturn V kit available now and thinking I have bitten off more than I can chew, not to mention storage space! With the corrugations on some parts of the rocket, is it difficult to properly mask and prevent any bleed through of black on those sections? I just found the one I built when I was 10 and looking at the paint work on that, I almost gave up the idea of coming back to the hobby. Oh, great video by the way. A good learning tool I will be referring to. Cheers.
@MoonwalkerModels Жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you! It isn't hard at all to mask it! Going perpendicular to the ribbed line will just take time and a little patience! I suggest using a vinyl tape like black electrical tape or Tamiya tape! Just make sure that you burnish it down between the ribs just before you paint! More than happy to help if you have any more questions! Kenny
@tomstamford6837 Жыл бұрын
@@MoonwalkerModelsThank you so much for that. You might regret that last bit ha! 😁 If you can break the inertia and fear of starting I have, that'd be a miracle. I've been told it's called 'analysis paralysis'. Wanting to be perfect first time, first kit, it tends to haunt quite a few people like me, especially when we see the results from those such as yourself. But we forget the practice you had to have put in to develop those skills and just need to jump in the deep end. I'm just looking to make a good kit. I was too dazzled by those videos showing weathering, etc skills which are levels above. Thing is, to be honest, I feel bad about sacrificing cheap kits to practice on, mainly as there are no more 'cheap kits' OK, I am waffling on as I just wanted to say a simple thanks. Thanks again, now YT recommended your video and I found your channel, I'm going to have fun watching your back catalogue of videos. ✌

Built one of these. Needs a bit of work to get something accurate, like fairings main engines too short. Also some of the upper boosters wrong shape. Good basis for detailing.
