Representative Government | Highlights Ep.21

The American Founders believed that the principles of the Declaration and the Constitution were not simply preferences for their own day, but were truths that the sovereign and moral people of America could always rely on as guides in their pursuit of happiness. This course considers the principles of the American Founding-which are described most famously and concisely in the Declaration of Independence-as well as key features of American government based on those principles. Led by Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn, the course also examines the major challenges posed by Progressivism to American constitutionalism.

Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.

By training the young in the liberal arts, Hillsdale College prepares students to become leaders worthy of that legacy. By encouraging the scholarship of its faculty, it contributes to the preservation of that legacy for future generations. By publicly defending that legacy, it enlists the aid of other friends of free civilization and thus secures the conditions of its own survival and independence.

I sincerely appreciate the work done by Hillsdale. Unfortunately, based on logic and reason, I have to take exception with the assertion that “government has a monopoly on power” and “that it has to be this way”. This is an obvious, it not blatant fallacy. Power flows from the sovereign individuals via delegation to government. Authority is delegated, not abdicated, surrendered, or forfeited. Our sovereignty is inalienable. It cannot be taken or given away, even by the possessor. Case in point. We all have an inalienable right to resist tyranny by all means necessary, and that includes the use of lethal force. We hope that this is never required, but when the government we authorize to act on our behalf is not present to defend against tyranny, or is the perpetrator of tyranny then we retain the inalienable right and duty to give effect to the law.

@@whousa642 Actually, the "definition" as specified by the Declaration of Independence is NOT a monopoly. It is a limited entity with the express purpose of securing our inalienable rights. Power is delegated, not abdicated or forfeited. The founders understood that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

How America will be Independent… I have the right to “make, and enforce contracts" [42 U.S. Code §1981(a)], and the terms to provide the other parent’s share of 50% daily physical parental obligations for them would only be under the conditions I receive 50% financial income in return. This is the harmonic give and take foundational principle which created the family structure in the first place and this is what we have forgotten. ENTICED INTO A STATE OF SLAVERY [18 U.S. Code § 1583(a)(2)] the judge overthrows the laws which determine the existence of the United States government itself [18 U.S.C Code § 2385]. "Abusing the legal process" [2 U.S. Code § 7102(1)] by granting a “TOTALITARIAN DICTATOR" [8 U.S. Code §1101(a)] twenty years of “FORCED LABOR" [18 U.S. Code §1589] this nation is not under God! The employer pays the employee to provide his share of responsibilities for him, and he pays his employee monetary compensation in return to meet his living expenses. I would be more then willing to share a home, and pay my share of living expenses, so long as I am treated with the same amount of respect he expects in return. Encouraging the overthrow of the United States government by force or violence; and becoming a member of, and affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof is ineligible for employment by the United States.” [18 CFR § 2385]. "Collecting” [18 U.S. Code § 2339C(e)(5)] “funds” [18 U.S. Code § 2339C(e)(1)] in my name to further "assault or torture” [18 U.S.C Code § 1111(c)(4)] his human trafficking victims [22 U.S.C § 7101(b)(19)] a dominant predator will take his opposition to the point of death forcing them to conform. Intending to cause death apparently, I should be a “incompetent” ghost without the intelligence to notice my own body missing. Denied a second opinion he makes the claim I refused to take his artificial chemically induced controlled solution, and using that as grounds he recommends my children be “transported on a slave vessel” [18 U.S. Code §1582], and detained in his secured communist governed facility [18 U.S. Code §1585]. Tampering with a witness, victim, and informant [18 U.S. Code §1512] (b)(2)(B)] he knowingly uses intimidation, threatens, and corruptly tries to persuade me into being forced to use his artificial chemically induced solution administered by his own staff, and all he manages to accomplish by claiming “incompetence” is become the “felony drug offender” [21 U.S. Code § 802(44)] he persecutes. My priority is not to ensure he lives in luxury! Discriminated against due to my United States national origin 42 U.S. Code §2000a-1 exercising my Thirteenth amendment right to free my people from slavery has resulted in grave breaches of common Article 3 of the international conventions done at Geneva August 12, 1949.
