One of my many favs of Mahalia! Let's get that hand clap right..... Love it! 100% God given talent. She graced this earth for a short time, but we have the recordings to enrich our walk with the Lord. This video had me smiling the entire time. Would have loved to have seen the full version. Mahalia radiates with the love of God when she sings. Especially the uptempo songs.

Them boys are tearing up on that piano and organ. I don't mean any harm but when I attended my Christian college, on Sundays the white students would say to each other, "Lets go to church." However, the black students like me would say "Let's go to CHURCH!" Get my drift? LOL!

Yes. Back in the 30s and 40s some folks didn't like people like Mahalia as they considered her music to be that of the devil. Ask Rev Thomas Dorsey.

Dwayne I really love the music more than the singing especially the organ and piano playing. lool. Now don't get me wrong I still thank God 4 Mahalia (4 all she has done while living 4 God ncluding her singing how I got over, in the upper room, o when the saints/ just a closer walk (with Louis Armstrong) etc. yet I didn't understand what she was saying other than come on childdren + she was going in & out (don't know what reason). Or maybe Im not used of Mahalia of all her style of music. lol. Conversely, thank u anyway.
@Rowoches5 жыл бұрын
You're not used to Mahalia and her style of music. This is a song that Mahalia sang multiple times during her career, so for most of us, we know the words. Also, that's the disadvantage of live recordings. You don't always get the full quality.
