One thing that hurt reptile's style over time is being stuck with the 'lackey' job. Like not even a notable subordinate to the big bad, just the mid-level antagonist. So its definetly really nice to see him be his own man for once.

Reptile is the only ninja in MK1 to have that traditional MK ninja look but in a more grounded style. It's pretty much his very first suit when he first debuted but modernized. He's got the black sleeveless hoodie with the green sash going over it with a butt load of details and it looks amazing.

Words cannot describe my hype for this Reptile. Reptile has always been my favourite character in MK, and this version of him captures everything about him that I love. I love that he's both capturing the human form AND the lizard form in the same gameplay.

A lot of people trying to act like Reptile isn't one of the freak characters, of the MK roster. Even when he's a human, he's still a weirdo green guy who pretends his arms are snakes or a mouth when he fights.

I honestly think his Armageddon design is my absolute favorite. Keeps the lizard monster but keeps the ninja while making him look different from the other ninjas (though he looks a little too similar to Ermac but it still works in my opinion). MKX would be great if it didn't have the drab MKX color scheme.

A design i love for reptile is actually from the scorpion's revenge, where he takes the mkx design but actually makes him look like a gator! I honestly wish Reptile in mk1 had armor on his alt form so its just not pure gator but i still love mk1 reptile for still having his beast form also bias'd because big buff gator man

The best part about his DA design is that he has little tongue flicks when he's idling and it's hilarious. I honestly do enjoy the design. It's kind of goofier but like a really hard lean into the "This guy is actually just a big lizard" thing, which I love.

Part of the cool factor also involves a lot how he's handled in the story, and for decades Reptile has always been just a henchman, he has some stuff going on with being the last of his kind, but they never do anything with it outside of arcade endings. Hell, MK9 Reptile didn't even get a speaking role and in MKX he's still just the guy whoever his boss is sends to get beaten up by the heroes. MK1 reptile already sticks out a lot because he's not a henchman, he's a sly lizard boi, an outcast from his own people and even though he's gonna join Liu Kang, he just OOZES personality, he's the cool sneaky guy who knows the streets and can back you up, and I love that!

Couldn't agree more. It felt like every single other Mortal Kombat character had a personal story and motivation, and then there was Reptile, who's story was "loyal henchman". He really didn't have a motivation, story, or purpose beyond that. It's like Netherrealm never really knew what to do with him. They gave him a little bit more of a story of being one of the few Zeteran lizard people of Outworld, but that was about it. In MK1, he not only seems to be presumably on team good-guy (barring any traitor revealed plot twist that he's still been working for Shang Sung this whole time, which would be a disappointment), but has personal motivation and a much stronger presence. I'll admit, I'm sort of left wondering "seems awfully convenient that taking human form was just a mutation he developed" as well as "why does his human transformation include tribal tattoos and clothes", but I'm likely just overthinking it. The new setup of being both the human ninja and a reptilian, with said reptilian being more bestial than humanoid, is an interesting hybridization that really makes him stand apart.

He doesnt have half the personality he did in the older timelines. Then, he was benevolent and had interests beyond his own, especially for a "bad guy". Now he just seems like a Chad, a sigma Chad (which I cool, but it doesnt beat the old Reptile)

There are now 2 people who have a LOT of cosmetics changes in the history of fighting games. One is Reptile with a lot of design changes on every MK title, and Athena Asamiya who changes a lot not just her costumes but also her hairstyles in every KOF title. By the way, Yoshimitsu has a lot of it too.

A shame we didn't get to cover Reptile in Mortal Kombat Deception. Then again, it would be like saying "if you were possessed, you were there." Still, I did like how out of all the endings from Deadly Alliance that was considered "canon," one of the biggest ones was Reptile getting possessed by Onaga.

Slight sarcasm aside, it really was fasinating to look at Reptile's overall evolution of where he started to where he ended up in the original timeline, the alternative timeline, and what little knowledge we got for the current timeline (and how the current timeline has probably been the most favorable for him out of the three. At least outside of the whole "my people despised me because my human form was too handsome" part).

Not only that, it looks like his back story and origin will have more depth. For the past MK's Reptile was always a henchman, but they didn't expand the character beyond his origins. We all knew he's Zaterran, now what? This new reptile seems rebellious and mischievous AF.

Deadly Alliance, Shaolin Monks & MK9/MKX is honestly always gonna be awesome to me. I don’t mind human Reptile but I think when they make him super reptilian lizard like it makes him more unique. I really do enjoy the take in MK1 though, I think it’s awesome we got both forms. And no Reptile didn’t do the head wraps first, Deception Ermac had them first before Shaolin Monks came out. I just don’t like Reptile looking human because he loses that unique look more, so that’s why MK1 nailed it. 3D era Reptile gets way too much hate & I’ll never get it because it’ll always be cooler to me.

MK1 FINALLY got Reptile right! He’s not a man, and he’s not The Lizard from Spider-Man, he’s BOTH in this game. I especially love that he can shift from his human form to his reptilian form mid combo. And his outfit is without question the coolest of all the ninjas so far in this game.

I 100% agree that this is the best. In MK2 he was my favorite character to use. Going invisible and flipping across the screen back and forward shooting the green orb and everything. I hate when there's an anthropomorphic reptile/lizard person and they don't have the snout. As a person who likes Reptile, I love his redesign. Lizard man is cool but Human Reptile is definitely really hot and I'm here for it. As soon as I saw him in the MK1 trailer, I was flabbergasted by how amazing he looked. And he became really really cool once I found out he can just switch between forms. I like the cleanness of the MK3/UMK3/MKT ninja designs. It just felt so modern to me as a kid, with the big divided foam pads over the shoulders. I still love that design, but it looks best on Rain if I'm honest.

I still am gonna miss his MK X design. Now hes back to a human like every- -other-ninja. The transforming back and forth i guess will have to do. MKX Reptile for me is peak Reptile. Especially the tournament skin. I've been maining the character since MK2 and he's genuinely my favorite fighting game character of all time. Personally, I prefer them doing a humanoid reptilian hybrid like mkx. That being also really love his look in MK1.

I've always been a huge fan of Lizard Reptile, even more than Human Reptile. I was worried that by making him human they'd take away what made me enjoy him, which is how visually unique he is. Really glad that they made him work in Mk1, but I hope that he has more a hybrid look for one of his alternates.

Whenever I think about Reptile , from Mortal Kombat, I think about his main theme from the film called control by Traci Lords. It's kind of funny that Max is correct about one thing that in both Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 3 reptile has the palette swap syndrome. Cuz when reptile was the first secret character in MK1 he only had scorpion Spear and Sub-Zero's freezing at the time.

Make a video for every ninja lol. Everybody needs their classic ninja skin, even Ermac. He looked pretty sick in MKX as a ninja! Why Rain never got a classic ninja skin in MK9 is beyond me though.

I can't believe we knew the first dlc's roster before we even saw the rest of the actual base-game roster. If this wasn't NRS and pretty much guaranteed to be great, I'd be concerned by that as a business practice.
