I’m devastated over Brian’s passing. I have watched his vlogs long before the Reptarium was open. He’s the reason I have my Blue Eyed Luci and most recently a Betta fish. You are so spot on when you said that holding Ball Python’s are therapeutic! I call my Luci my Emotional Support Animal, I have severe anxiety and PTSD… she’s a huge help. Great video! I really enjoyed seeing all the snakes in one video.

The way your corn snake moves is the same way my ball pythons move, they’re almost never balled up unless they’ve eaten or are in shed.

This was such a great video and a beautiful tribute to what Brian was all about, showing us body language of the snakes and how they react differently. He will be so dearly missed in the reptile and overall animal community, but amazing to see how his family and team are keeping his memory and dreams alive. Your video was truly awesome and a pleasure to see your snakes, one moment that made me really chuckle was when you said boas and ball pythons are slow moving snakes. My Ophelia is really a testament to how different snakes can be lol, she is a rainbow boa like Bowie and she is calm never strikes me except for the one time that was my mistake, giving her a holie roller that had been near a mouse which put her in feeding mode. Other than that though, she is really an absolutely silly and zany girl. She is SO FAST when she explores when I handle her, she squeezes my arm like theres no tomorrow, and she never wants to go back in her enclosure - she wants me to handle her FOREVER. But I love her haha, shes my silly wild explorer.

It's crazy you released this video today; last night I was contemplating getting a rainbow boa but have been really put off by stories they're quite spicy/nippy and I'm someone who prefers to handle good tempered snakes. I have a leopard gecko which I've had for about a year and I got a ball python on Halloween - they're both absolute dreams to handle. Thank you for showing how you deal and interact with Bowie in particular!

I’m glad this came at the right time. Bowie was always very chill even as a baby. I picked her out because she was so easy going and I was still new to snakes. Not all BRBs are as laid back though, especially babies. But if you find a good breeder you can work with them to find one that may be a good fit for you! ❤

I would love to do that, but I barely see or handle them anymore because of how I setup their enclosures. 😅 the hides are built into the background and they all go in them during the day 😂

What size zen enclosure do you have for your ball pythons and corn snake ? Are they their forever homes? I’m thinking about getting a zen for my bp but unsure what size to get❤️
@reptiliangarden8 ай бұрын
They are in 4x2x16. Honestly I would recommend going for the 4x2x2 instead to give more climbing height! I’m just cut off on space 😅

I've been looking into getting a starter snake for over a year now and just want to make sure I'm ready and have everything it will need and properly set up I have a 5 year old son that is really good with animals especially reptiles he loves them from watching Brian any advice on what would be good , also I live in Canada I just see cornsnakes and ball pythons and hognoses
@reptiliangarden9 ай бұрын
Those are some of the best beginners! Ball Pythons can be tricky with care more so than corn snakes though. I usually recommend corn snakes as the best beginner, but if you do enough research and understand what goes into ball pythons, they can be a great option too. I am not too familiar with hognoses. I just know they're cute and illegal in my state lol

I have a question... Why is the name for keeping Reptiles .. "Husbandary" - The best guess I have is that when it started women were afraid of reptiles and men enjoyed it. What do you think!
@smokeythagamer85219 ай бұрын
Corn snakes and colubrids in general dont seem to have a “chill state” like Ball python’s & Boas and i feel like that on top of their fast movements is what makes them so weird and tough to handle IMO.
@reptiliangarden9 ай бұрын
Agreed! They have spunk! lol

They are hard to come by! They are growing in popularity, so I think eventually we will have an easier time finding breeders for this species. Keep an eye out at big reptile shows!

They’re most alert and that would be the main time for them to be hunting. I also am not a night owl at all, I am sleeping at night and not up late wanting to handle animals. 😂

Is it expensive to own snakes ? Or can a person with low income afford to buy and care for several snakes and their veterinary bills ? Like Blood Pythons or Boa constrictors for example.
