Republic Services Amrep Garbage Truck Working Hard!... 7 Years Later

With the fleet renewal at the Fresno yard nearly complete, finding the last remaining ex City of Fresno 2011 WXLL Amrep was on the top of my list. When Republic took over City of Fresno commercial in 2011, they acquired 1286-1290, with ages ranging between a few months old to 2 years. 1289 burnt down around 2016 leaving 4 other Amreps. Fast forward to 2021 when the fleet renewal began, the trucks were demoted to spares and eventually 1287, 1288 and 1290 were scrapped. For whatever reason, Republic decided to invest heavily into 1286 and sent it off to have the engine completely rebuilt. With it basically being a brand new truck, it was promoted once again to a regular runner and was assigned to Tony to run on the City of Clovis commercial recycle route. I found this truck completely by chance and knew I had to record it before it was once again demoted to spare, which is happening sooner rather than later. The yard took delivery of 1228, a 520 Heil Freedom and Tony is next on the list to get it. I'm hoping they'll keep this around for a bit longer as it's super fast and a low entry truck, both things drivers appreciate.
