Loved following garbage trucks on bicycle in my pyjamas through rain , snow and sunshine during my youth age from 6 to 13 . The sheer pressure of the blade is what intrigued me most, crushing everything and anything bulk-sized thrown at it inside the hopper - Ohhhh Thhheeee Memories ❤❤

@Screwdriver440 I don't know how california waste collection works, but I'm thinking they separate metal at a sortation facility. Otherwise in a place like California, they would send a separate collection truck for metal. When I lived in Toronto back in the 1990s they had a separate truck to collect metal (refrigerators, stoves, etc.)

I work the Rear Load for Waste Connections in Toronto. We do Commercial properties, which includes Condominiums, Apartment buildings, and businesses. But we do have a two person team, and the amount of bulk we pick up from each location is at least 10 times what this guy is picking up. Fair enough, for he is just one person. But the workout we get by the end of the day, makes up for any gym membership, free of charge during the 10 hour workday we normally have.

I'm in UK and all bulky stuff has to be taken to a council tip as council only empties the wheelie bins. At the tip we have to sort metal, paper, etc into correct maxi skips or else!

Just reading through some of the comments on here from other garbage crush fans. Personally I like to see large appliances crushed the best. I think loading with a tractor spoils things somewhat as the items being loaded are severely weakened before facing the crusher! What do others think?

I’d say it’s probably about split with what people like. A lot of people like seeing the crews throw a big couch or fridge in the truck and see it get packed. Some people like the fast pace of the tractors and how they snag all kinds of things. I personally like seeing the crews hand load the bulky items, since I get to see everything get destroyed. @@NicholasLittlejohn what ARE you talking about? They don't put CFCs in fridges anymore. There are loads of examples on youtube of fridges going in garbage trucks in the US 🇺🇸 and Australia. So obviously it must be legal or you wouldn't see Councils and regulated waste collectors doing it!

this looks like the way to do a bulky rout .. until you come to a fridg/freezer-washer/dryer water heater or maybe there's a separate truck for white goods, electronics aren't supposed to go in the landfill either, I do see a hernia in kenny's future tho, this should be a two man job the way I see it

They do not pick up hazmat materials, like propane tanks, gasoline, etc. The blade on the truck is not meant to crush items, though it more or less does it on a regular basis. It is just meant to sweep the item whole inside the truck, but sometimes due to the size of the items like a sectional, or a big sofa, it ends up tearing it apart before sweeping it inside. And yes, it is supposed to be a two man job. Tells how much the company cares for the person.

Recycling is largely a myth. Pretty much a marketing scam. Most "recyclables" just get exported and dumped overseas. A small percentage is actually re-used.

Old things like in the video are delivered on different days or you can take them to the right place. It is free. It is works in Hungary too, I am Hungarian.

One thing most common in the garbage industry is a rule do not put anything flammable inside the truck A spark will set it off and the truck will burst into flames. Do not put lawnmowers in the garbage trucks. This guy must be a newbie

UK bin man takes 1 wheelie bin of rubbish away once every 2 weeks the lid has to shut and nothing next to the bin will be taken, things like bbq lawnmowers chairs you have to take to the tip or pay per item for special collection. in fact if you left them items outside you would be done for flytipping
