I was an obedient child once in a heavily catholic home and people say when I was I seemed happier, but the thing is when you’re forced to appear a certain way in front of everyone all the time that typically entails not expressing much emotion. Me not speaking out about the abuse and depression I felt didn’t mean it wasn’t there. I might seem less happy now to people with an outside perspective, but I’m happier now expressing my feelings and being honest with myself rather than locking everything away. I actually have the will to do better and create a future for myself, whereas before I felt like my life was over before it started and I didn’t have any hope at all.

I absolutely do not compliment my children for being “obedient”, but I do thank them for being kind , understanding, compassionate and listening to others. It is only natural that kids grow and want to rebel. What parents need to understand is the importance of communication and trust. A child who respects their parents will always want to make them proud. People need to make mistakes, learn and grow and also build their own independence. Being “obedient”, does none of those things. What it does is make adolescents very depressed, never learn to set healthy boundaries and as well as low self esteem, good liars and manipulative.

My dad thought my crying was annoying as a child so he hit me so I "had a real reason to cry" and got angrier if I cried loudly. Now as an adult I am extremely conflict avoidant and anti confrontational. If someone raises their voice at me then my eyes get teary by reflex and I flinch at sudden movements. I will never be comfortable around "bear" type men who are too much bigger than me and that includes my dad. I would never trust him with my doubts and feelings ever and I am incapable of speaking once I start crying. I mean that literally. I just physically can't. It's like I become temporarily mute and how long it takes me to be able to speak after depends on how emotional I was. It could take hours. If I try to talk I just wheeze and if it's particularly bad I hyperventilate. If I make crying sounds I instinctively put pressure on my throat or else I'll just panic and potentially spiral. I think its really interesting that there are things like PragerU Kids, right-wing platforms to spread their beliefs to kids, but the same thing doesn't exist for left-wing ideas. Hasan makes a similar point about content for adults online, and how the number of popular leftists online is so much less than the number of popular right-wing people. I don't have much to add, I just found the parallel interesting

more progressive and liberal beliefs don't require the constant bigoted propoganda that conservativism does. leftist beliefs are often reinforced just by living your values and seeing the world around you, but right wing conservatives know that their arguments are empty bigotry so this is what they have to do to prevent their supporters actually realizing what they're standing for

I've heard that you have a lot of cops in USA. I was watching one guy who went to live in South Korea and when he came back in USA noticed how many cops are just standing everywhere and actually that's not making him feel more safe, it's actually the opposite. And as far as I know the way they're communicating with people is horrible and you can get punished for like nothing, just because you said something like a human to human and he says that's disrespect against the law. Most of the people, almost everywhere in the world hate cops and I believe there is reason for that, it's not because we're all criminals

@@osiris3x085 As for the example you asked for, look up the video of a little 8 YEAR OLD boy getting forcefully escorted into a cruiser by 3 or 4 armed cops because he supposedly “shoplifted” a SINGLE bag of potato chips. Or look up the video of a gang of hogs surrounding a homeless woman like she’s a wild animal for doing nothing. Or look up the video of hogs arresting a guy for doing nothing, then arresting his friend for simply standing nearby and saying that he did nothing (I guess freedom of speech doesn’t matter to the American pig force). And who’s most of the world? That depends on your worldview. You obviously have a pessimistic mindset on life, so you believe more people are bad than good in the world.

There's a difference between a kid who is cooperative because they want to do the right thing and a kid who obeys because they're scared. And both will still disobey sometimes because they're human beings with complex minds and emotions and may not always want to do whatever someone tells them to do, just like adults. That guy clearly didn't listen when someone told him he needs to stop wasting money on fillers and try a facelift if he's trying to look younger, he hasn't learned how to listen to what is best for him so idk if beatings from the good ol' days did anything for him

I was described as the "perfect" child. Obedient, well behaved, quiet, polite. And I liked to be those things, but I definitely had to hide the fact that I was really suffering and needed help because I wanted to be perfect for my parents. I didn't know how to say no, respect myself, or stand up for myself. I just did what I was told. IT was incredibly lonely and damaging. It wasn't until my therapist told me that it's always the perfect kids thay she worries about because they're not acting out in a way that's a cry for help. Perfect kids need help but won't ask for it. If I ever have children I hope their imperfect and outspoken. It's good for kids to get things wrong. There's a balance.

I was extremely obedient and quiet around the house as a little kid, now I don't remember a large portion of my childhood and have so f"cking many problems! I was raised by my grandparents and they would often say things about how I was lucky to being raised by them the way they are now because they were just completely physically abusive (my grandfather fought my dad physically over sweet tea once.) So uh, maybe just be kind and nurture your kids so they don't hate you and end up f*cked later?

I was an obedient kid in a Christian home cause if I showed any emotion or disapproval my parents would threaten to send me away or yell at me. I became a push over to avoid conflict and anytime I tried to push back it would end in a fight no matter how small the situation. I got diagnosed with depression when I was in grade 9 and when I told my parents I was sat on the couch and yelled at for an hour about how ungrateful I was and how I AM happy but I’m just possessed (wish I was joking) so I feel like kids aren’t more obedient it’s just that emotional abuse is now more common than physical abuse. Not saying either is better but they really fuck up a kids life.

6:09 I live in a Canadian city with a food truck fest & about a bajillion other festivals & I can attest that the only thing I've ever seen cops do at festivals --- other than socialize & also you wouldn't believe the "free samples" they get when food's involved --- is hassle people who are without housing who are rarely bothering anyone, but just having a good time enjoying the free entertainment, which obviously isn't allowed if you're poor or mentally ill or esp if you are FN. Even before covid I started avoiding these free city festivals bc I witnessed police hassling people without any point or necessity so much I almost never could enjoy them. & complaining or intervening made it worse; & subsequent reports/complaits to higher-ups went unaddressed.

I live near a very popular beach that's separate from the city but is the same county. The county cops get extra shifts and paid time & a half to voluntarily work on the beach. I've worked a few jobs over the years on the beach and the cops get comfortable with you. They told me they take the gig for the money and because they don't have to do anything. At night they'll hang in their cars and link their laptops and watch movies or porn together. I knew one cop that was cheating on his wife with a coworker of mine, on duty, in his cop car at night. This was in my early 20's and was the beginning of my awakening and disdain for the piggies.

i was never a particularly obedient child, and tbh i was never gonna be. my mother noted when i was like 4 years old that i had a knack for "questioning authority" which really means i have a never-ending poking in my brain asking "okay, but why though?" i always wanted to understand why the rules exist, what purpose do they serve, including!!! who power trips off enforcing them. i have never believed in "the letter of the law" and i whole-heartedly *Have Zero Respect Whatsoever* for anyone who believes in "the letter of the law" over "the spirit of the law." you will not catch me dead respecting a bootlicker. as i got more ~rebellious~ as a teen (aka "acting out" aka being unable to process or cope with trauma) my parents sure Tried to make me more ~obedient~. they got mean, they got harsh, they tried every punishment they could think of. all that did was make me resent them 1000x more and respect them, both as authority figures and as human beings, 1000x less. you can make some kids "obedient", sure. most likely with trauma. but i am a poster child for "you cannot always force children to behave how you want them to, regardless of what method(s) you use." my parents hated this, my teachers and admin at my schools hated this, anyone who attempted to penalize me with any sort of self-appointed authority over me hated this. if i had obeyed my parents, i would have less childhood trauma. 100%. and i knew that at the time, too. but you will not catch me *dead.* respecting a single word out of the mouth of anyone with the vibe of "Do it because I said so."

I think that it has been known before the invasion that theres neo nazis there ( the "national militia" comes to mind which has been discussed years before this). Im not quite sure that it was condemning all of Ukraines people of being nazis hence why the group condemned the invasion. Putin just took known info and warped it into a justification for his awful actions, especially cause those groups from the Azov movement have been openly against russian separatists. If it wasnt Nazis, Putin would have found any justification to enact his plans that Im quite sure he has been brewing over since his time in the Kremlin.
