To the parents who are concerned about teaching children about transgender people: it's important to understand that this isn't about encouraging kids to be a certain way. It's about teaching them to treat others with dignity and respect, no matter who they are. Transgender people are human beings with their own experiences and feelings, and our children need to learn that it's not acceptable to make fun of or devalue someone just because they’re different. As a Christian, I firmly believe in what the Bible teaches, including the command to love our neighbors. We are called to guide others, but if they do not follow, we are not to condemn them. Instead, we are to respect them as fellow humans and move forward without hate. The Bible also tells us that no one sin is greater than another, and we have all fallen short. As someone who has trans loved ones, i feel your pain man. Ive seen the absolute transformation of self esteem when theyre allowed to just- be, when theyre allowed to be free, to be themselves. Ive also seen the terror they express when the idea of being forced back to into something theyre not risks becoming real I know these spaces. Im not trans, but i know the trans experience. Those that hate dont understand, and they often dont /want/ to understand. If trans children could be cis, they would.
