I couldn't agree more. Their second album, "Speed Ballads" was my swan song in 1999! I played the living shit outta that album. I was so bummed that the rest of the world didn't embrace them as I did.

This is effn' brilliant and what a smooth beautiful voice, gorgeous vibrato, just add some nice dreamy ambience (Reverb, echo) and you've got a winner. Popularity is only one form of success, just being able to sound this good is another. ;)

A little late to the party, truer words can't be spoken! I only knew "Ready to Go" and am in the process of listening to the rest of their music. Pretty damn impressive-"Luxury Cage" completely blew me away! What an intro, then when it kicks in, it's damn phenomenal! The production on that song and others is epic! Just listened to this tune for the first time and IT is killer as well. "From the Rush Hour With Love", "Fading of the Man" and "Pretty Girl Hate" are all hits in my book. In a way, they sound a bit like Garbage at times and that's a good thing. Saffron is such an incredible singer-what a band!

The thing that completely stuns me is not only is the song riveting with the haunting melodies and top notch music, but the video is a total work of art on its own. Beautifully shot with the dynamic, captivating queen Saffron and everyone in the sublime Asian fashions. (Except Johnny on guitar as well as Tim and the drummer-ha!) What an intriguing set too. I always love the production of their songs, magnificent use of delays-so immersive and spatial.

Wow, didn't know Republica were back making new music until a few days ago; this new song is awesome! I remember having a huge crush on Saffron when the "Ready To Go" video came out in my country in '97 or so... it's hard for me to believe how much she's changed ever since; she looks like an almost completely different woman... her voice and stage energy are still intact, though, which is what should really matter anyway. Glad to have her back!

Long story short, the UK label they were signed it went bankrupt; then, BMG (who obtained the rights from the defunct label) screwed them over and did zero promo, never even released the second album in the US. In 2002 BMG released "The Best Of Republica" without the band agreeing on it. There was a gagging order involved where they had to stay silent about it all for (I believe) 10 years (or so?).
