In the 1st video of this 6 part "SUMMIT SUPERCUTS" video series about Periodic Paralysis, Dr. Steve Cannon discusses repurposing a current known drug, Retigabine, (used to treat epilepsy) for use in preventing attacks of periodic paralysis. Dr. Cannon discusses a generalized summary of PP, channelopathies, Retigabine and why it may be used to treat attacks of PP. Wait... It's not normal for your lips and tongue to be stiff in the cold? I've had this since I was a kid. Antoine I get cold, it's very difficult to move my lips or tongue. I can hold a cold item for a MAX of 3 seconds before I'm in excruciating pain. I have hypoKPP.

Cold can be a trigger for many with PP. You can learn more about common triggers for PP on our website and in our other videos. You can also learn about how to manage your symptoms within those same resources. Our goal is to provide patients with information that can help them with diagnosis, treatment and management.
