Another very usefull video, didnt know about the miners "collecting" rep, im just sitting on stations popping criminals.

Oh yeah, the miners and the traders are just there for rep at the moment. Getting serious about money making involves different miners and trade ships, more selective placement of fleets, and different specialization. These guys are pretty much solely for rep. As such they were as cheap as possible and as small as possible for maximum trades as opposed to optimal profitability.

The Magpie miner can actually take 2 shields, I wasn't paying attention when I outfitted it. There is a tab at the top in shields that can swap between the hardpoints and should add a shield for each hardpoint.

Actually a really quick way to get rep from -9 to 10/11 is to dock into a faction factory and trade manually 1 by 1… because it’s not the price but the number of transaction that change the rep. It take around 100 transactions to get to 10 rep. There will be a few seconds delay between each transaction but you can get to rep 10 in about 20 min.

Right, I tend to use small miners and small traders to do it for me, though. That way I can focus on things that only the player can do. Your way is a viable option as well, although a bit tedious for me. The small miners and traders are for reputation, whereas medium and large are for real money making.

@@cykotich Yeah you are right especially since your small miner/traders can keep raising you rep after rank 10... (manually is WAAAY too boring after 10...) But for a quick access to a faction early game before you have the budgets for mining fleet... manual sales maybe more adventageous.

You can, if you're bored flying around. You should try to scan each station piece for each faction anyway.

Are there any factions that don't spawn the criminal ships? I've had success with this technique with several factions, but I can't get criminals to spawn at Ministry of Finance stations. Bad RNG, or something else?

Yes, there are a few. Mostly pirate nations and anyone that needs a questline to unlock. The main two pirate factions (ones in general space and ones in Terran space) require a questline, as do the ones that hang out in the pink zones.

Yes, People still play this game. Its not the only game you can play as a pirate and actually have your exploits effect the world at large. Its not the only game you play as the commander of a massive trader network, building your produtction chain and logitics. Its not the only game where you can dogfight in massive battles and gain real glory in the name of RNGesus. Its not the only game you can lead a massive army of over 1000 ships in an RTS style and conquer the galaxy. But it is the only game where you can do all that and well. It was really bad at launch but now and especially with mods... this game is perfect.

It is not the only game where you can do each of things you described, but it is the only space game I've seen where you can do *all* off the things that you described! This game has a hell of a learning curve, and is definitely a slow burn; but if you like those things, yes, it definitely is perfect. I absolutely adore this game.

@@cykotich There is a mod called Uncharted Skies. If you load all the compatible sectors except ring and the EvE online factions.... The game is about 400% bigger and you have this other faction in game thats just like you. But they hate you. A competing player. Insane.

Egosoft has never abandoned a game. I knew what I would get at launch but I literally had no worries because I knew it would be just fine in the end 😊

it's a bit of a weird mechanic. you're going into their sectors, mining their stuff, to sell back to them. I guess they invite it by not setting the buy option to "own faction only" 😄 imo it should be nerfed - make the rep gain based on volume and/or value of trades, or delivery of urgently-needed parts, rather than simple number of trades

I agree. I'm wondering if it's a balance thing. It seems to be skewed in our favor, but it's really not. If it was based on volume or value, I wouldn't be using a fleet of small miners and traders, I would be using larger ones and consequently making SIGNIFICANTLY more income from them. It actually nerfs income a little bit to do it efficiently. I'm not sure if it was planned or just worked out that way, but it is an interesting side-effect of the mechanic.
