This is bringing to light how you can perform an entire set with the keys! I will be using this method over the arranger to sample multiple different patterns and add them to multiple drum engines and playback the patterns manually, feels more spontaneous and performative that way. Thanks for your videos!
@Shimmery.mp3Күн бұрын
That is a very cool idea! Go for it! Since XY has 24 voices you can have several resamples from one drum engine playing at the same time.
@captainlovett472415 сағат бұрын
Ok, question. I can probably look it up in the manual, but how do you make each key in a drum sampler only play the sample while the key is held? Is there a gate/trigger setting? I’m thinking like playing the drum sampler sp404 style, with each key loaded with individual complete patterns right? I suppose I could set each key to choke every other key, but that sounds tedious. I still need to experiment a LOT more but figured I’d ask!
@captainlovett472415 сағат бұрын
Found it! Shift + light gray encoder switches between loop and gate when key is held.

You and me both! This still leaves me with some feeling of control. It’s a bit time consuming but you could basically bounce every track on it’s own as well as different combinations.

You’re welcome! :) recieved some great workaround ideas from some heroes here in the comment section. You can change the scaling of the sequencer so it basically shows both bars in one. Or try to use the ”player” called Hold.

You can use the "hold" player- to keep your sample playing, and make the track two bars. You can also press the first trigger, go the next bar and pres the last trigger on that bar to make it span two bars :)
@Shimmery.mp3Күн бұрын
That hold player trick is pretty slick actually! :O I didn’t get the other way to work. But will try again! Thank you so much for the tips 🍻

Can you change the resolution on the sampler track to bring both bars onto 1 page, then use the first+last step trick?
@SkerryVibeКүн бұрын
Very nice! 👍🏻 If you change the key while resampling in the drum sampler the different parts will end up on the right key so you don’t have to browse for all the samples afterwards
@Shimmery.mp3Күн бұрын
That is very true if you have an empty track to use! But in this example i had used all the 8 tracks already(on purpose just to show it could still be done) :) thank you for the tip tho! I will remember that when i do this next time 🙏
@SkerryVibeКүн бұрын
@@Shimmery.mp3that’s true, I missed that you switched back to all 8 tracks playing there. But so a good workflow could be to have a drum sampler on track 8 that you could sample in to when the other 7 tracks are occupied and you need to free some tracks. It’s quite nice actually!
@Shimmery.mp3Күн бұрын
@ no worries bud! That is definatley a very good habit to create! Will be sure to do that if I feel the track has potential :) thank you for the tip!

So is there a way to reset all those parameters that are left over like lfos, sends, filters … when you start a new sound engine? Or is manually correcting them the only way? You could create a blank engine preset and load that I guess
@Shimmery.mp3Сағат бұрын
I havn’t found a way to get a fully blank track, no. The blank present idea is a very good idea 👍

anyone figure out how to copy and paste a sound on the drums sampler to place it on another pad (slot)?
How do you drag in your own sample of a house chord to the drive for example, make it mono, and name a preset patch with it?
@Shimmery.mp3Күн бұрын
You connect XY as an MTP to your computer and drag the sample in the samples folder. Then you can access it in the sample library. Will try to do an import vid when I’m feeling better from my cold 🫶
@antikytheramechanism7909Күн бұрын
@@Shimmery.mp3 I figured all this out but there is one thing, there is only forward and reverse by holding shift. I don't see any other options like one shot, etc. So it loops when you hold down the key.
@Shimmery.mp3Күн бұрын
@antikytheramechanism7909 while holding shift try pressning the encoder that controls the fading of the loop points. It’s the second one on the right. If you press it twice it should say ”loop off”

@@Shimmery.mp3 Thank you! I seem to recall on OP-1 Field that I could see the markers for loop points, start, end, etc. Here they are black on top of black so you cant really see them to like with a pad set your loop point it is difficult to see.

impressive and surely useful. but now we are working with audio. I'm wondering if theres a way to do something similar with midi. lets say all 8 tracks use drum sampler and each track is dedicated to one sound for easier programming (elektron style) - now when you are happy with the beat, it would be awesome to combine all the midi in one track!
@jantuitmanКүн бұрын
If you press one of the keys on the drum kit and then press the recordbutton while the key still pressed, it will “zoom in” on the one drum sound, so this feature makes drum programming pretty easy with all the sounds on 1 track.
@reneeschkeКүн бұрын
@jantuitman Forgot about that! thx Does it "keep the zoom" when you change bar pages?
@jantuitmanКүн бұрын
@ actually, it was a bit worse than I remembered it was when I tried it out. You have to press a trig, than press record while keeping the trig pressed, and then keeping the trig pressed. So, no relaxed cup of coffee in zoom mode, keep a finger on a key. But the good news: you can switch bars while doing this. You can even lengthen the pattern while doing this. It is not the holy grail ( no editing of step components for example), but it is a handy help to quickly place / inspect trigs while not getting confused too much
@reneeschkeКүн бұрын
@@jantuitman thx for the in depth explanation. sounds like my "midi squash" or "midi resample" method would be nicer for dealing with intricate drum patterns.

Important question I thought all your drums could be on one track? Using track 1 as a 24 note drum kit and then having tracks 2-8 be melodic? Is this not possible?
@Shimmery.mp3Күн бұрын

you might want to process the drums as well - you can add much more character to your sound by using more than one drum track and dialing in the settings a bit. (And/Or you resample individual hits)
