Yeah that little Daisy wouldn't hurt anybody I used to catch the bullet right out of the end of the barrel with my hand on mine we used to have BB gun wars with just t-shirts on I had a pump BB gun my buddy had a CO2 BB gun the CO2 what's close to being out so it wasn't very powerful and he made me promise not pump more than once I went ahead and pumped it three times and here he came from about the same distance shot him right in the side it left a big welt with a little red dot in the center but it didn't penetrate more than likely the kid was playing with a pellet gun in the house and it had to have been pumped at least four or five times

@@oldcountryboy Remember that spring tention varies from gun to gun. I have 4 BB guns, the most powerful one i am sure could kill a person with a carefully placed shot. You literally have to put your whole body weight on it to bend the barrel to charge the spring.

My next door neighbor fired a BB gun at something stupid 10 years ago and it ricochet and hit my house and he lived 300 feet away. It ruined my siding, but thankfully that was all the damaged it did. He apologized to me profusely but the damage was done. He did fix the siding but WE both learned a valuable lesson on BB guns.

People are way to harsh on the shooter. Did you all forget 10 minutes ago? The boy test fired the gun several times shooting at the ground. No pellets fired so he understandably thought the gun was empty and just wanted to goof around shooting air at bugs.

He was a kid at the time. You can't count on kids to always do the right thing. They get scared and a lot of them do not know how to deal with that. So running away and hiding is a good way for them to get away from it. he thought about it tho and came forward the next day. the fact that he came forward, apologized and had concern for the boy is what matters. This was a learning experience for him i'm sure.

it is possible. There is higher end bb guns that are more expensive and use CO2. I have witnessed one of these BB guns shoot a pellet and lodge deep in a tree. It would have no problem tearing though flesh and muscle tissue.

Today is the 32nd anniversary of when this happened so Kevin is 49 and Jared is 38 now. When I saw Jared get shot and the wound in his chest, I was terrified because I didn't know how dangerous or serious it was. Thank goodness he was saved. I wouldn't like it if something like this happened to someone I know. I'm sure Jared said "Thank you" to those who saved his life and accepted Kevin's apology. BB guns are dangerous and unacceptable. This happened 2 days before my brother, Andrew's 5th birthday.

It depends. Yes it is a good idea to cover a sucking chest wound but doing it without a valve to release air that builds up in the thorax can result in a tension pneumothorax. Better to use a three sided dressing and closely monitor. Given this situation with the arterial blood present, using a hand to apply pressure was probably the best solution for first responders.

it was probably a different bb gun in real life over the one in the re enactment because the one on the show wouldn't penetrate an egg shell after passing through a window and going another 20+ feet...especially after being lost out side for a period of time, now a pump action bb gun could do this..

I think the kid who shot the little boy, knew it had BBs, and shot the little boy intentionally just to "see" what would happen, but never thought the little boy would end up wounded so badly. I think the older kid, then felt really bad and came forward.

I agree. I don't believe his story. BBs don't suddenly load after shooting air repeatedly.
