Poor little Kendra. 😢 She seemed like such a sweet little girl who loved her brother & was a friend to everybody. I’m so glad she survived this near-death emergency at only five years old. Her grandparents were heroes here & helped to save her young life. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

As a former EMT I had a love/hate feelings when it came to pediatric cases. The worse was when my 5 year old daughter had her tonsils out. During her recovery she ate a nacho chip. She started bleeding. Knowing that we could have her at 1 of 2 hospital's before a Ambulance could arrive, we transported her. My wife drove and I took care of my daughter. We arrived at the hospital and she was rushed into the treatment area. About that time I realized that the hospital I had chosen nolonger had pediatric facilities. She had to be transported to a specialty hospital after she was stabilized. It was my baby girl, I wasn't thinking at 100%.

This story had me tearing up. I was also fighting for my life August 13th 1991. I had my liver transplant, August 13th 1991. I celebrated my 26th year with my transplanted liver August 13th 2017. But what really made me cry is knowing that another little girl, really did lose her life August 12th 1991, and that little girl is why I'm alive today. That is what I thought about when I watched this, that the parents of the little girl actually lost their baby girl. Thankfully this little one didn't die.

She probably didn't feel the shard cut into her. She might've been crying before she passed out otherwise. When I was her age, me and some friends were playing in a tree and used an old wooden ladder to climb up. While we played, I didn't feel two 9-inch nails press into my calf. I felt absolutely nothing. When it came time to climb down, I couldn't move my leg, it was stuck to the ladder. When I freaked out, that's when it started to hurt. Seeing this clip (back when it aired when I was 12yrs old, and now at 38), I'm reminded of that day.

My sister when she was a baby pulled a metal shelf on her head and everything on that shelf was glass including a big globe that fell right on her head and then glass shattered on her head she was in shock as soon as I heard my mom scream my sister's name in a panic voice and I heard glass shatter and a big boom I ran out of the bathroom to see my mom put her down on a rug and she couldn't find any blood anymore she lifted her off of the carpet and there was blood all over the carpet she flipped over and she had a big gash on her head she screamed and my dad also rushed out of the other bathroom and picked her up and asked my mom what happened then my grandpa rushed inside from being outside when he heard the scream btw I was only seven she was like not even one yet she was close to being one though I'm 11 now and my little sister is 4 we don't really talk about what happened I just know I was really scared for my little sis because she's the only sibling I have and I love her
Get a temper glass that is fake glass and keep it from shattering without not knowing that the door was closed but keep her from injury from running fast to get to the glass doorway but big time she should of walk not running that fast 😳😵

I found this to be one of the most horrific episodes I've seen.... grandfather blowing into her mouth with it coming out of her chest. That glass would have been pushed further into her heart during the CPR.. its amazing it did not completely dice up her heart during it.

I remember this episode coming on right when I was learning first aid in school, they had needed to put the Saran war down and create a donut of gauze around the embedded object-the grandfather may have unknowingly pushed the glass further into her heart -what kept her from having brain damage was the fact that the grandfather was doing AR as soon as she went limp. Children could get to deaths door faster but they can recuperate better than adults for the same reason their bodies don't require as much as the body is still developing and can compensate

There's two reasons she said she was okay at first. 1. She's like me.. once I cut open my face and was bleeding all over my hand which I used to cover it up and I barley felt the pain from adrenaline and I didn't want anyone around me to worry. 2. The glass severed a nerve so she couldn't feel it until it was almost too late
