Yes it's so cute... she's gaining weight by nursing, grains and grass. I'm concerned though about Ruby & Dani, who have no mom to "nurse on demand" for calorie intake even though they get grain and grass & one late bottle. With the larger pastures, they are burning more calories than they did at LHL's by walking & running over much larger acreage & getting only a bottle at night. The caloric content of the night bottles probably needs increasing. There is also calf grain with more calories. Their ribs are showing.

You got me thinking Lester, and so I have been doing a bit of research. Yes, I was one of those kids who loved looking things up in encyclopedias! The Piney Woods breed is one that developed in the southern coastal states from the Spanish cattle that were brought over around 400 years ago. There are four different genetic groups each called after the breeder/area they were exclusive to. It was really quite fascinating to read and the pictures of the cattle were very nice. Like the longhorns they come in many different colors, and a single herd can be quite amazing to see. They are actually considered a heritage breed. Little Gary can be proud of his genetic line. Of course I think he'll make a much gentler animal as a steer. Much like Moo has been. And every herd should have a nice steer in it. I am still praying for Gary's complete recovery. 💖💖💖

As you so often do, you reminded me of something I haven't thought about in a very long time: my dad was the worst when my mom managed to convince him to visit friend or family because after 10 minutes, he started asking her if it was time to leave.
