The "Ole Man" has created a horse-trading deal: his Fury for four junkers. We attempt to rescue these two 1979 Chevrolet C10's from an old farm field. We attempted to haul them back to the Ole Man's and then get them started for the first time since years. Will they play nice and start right up? My grandpa always would buy the heavy duty lead use metal top post battery terminals for tractor use, and on the side post gm truck batteries he would use the same thing but the adapter to top post, both sold through Napa auto parts $6-10 a piece depending on the set you are buying.

Sometimes on those old squarebodys like the purple one at the end when the cut off in gear with low battery or shut off in gear the flywheel will get spun causing it to make that sons and you have to readjust them back👍

My little brother still has the 1978 GMC Sierra Classic 1500 4 Bolt Main 350 4V Dad bought new, that truck survived 3 teen age boys and driven to school, college. If mom had a choice between her car and that truck she took it little 5ft 1 Baptist Preacher and she sure didn't let any grass grow under it either.

Hey Rev. That steering column has A column switch that allows the rod to engage the starter off of the key switch tumbler. That switch is possibly broken needing replaced. On it sometimes you half to splice the wiring in together with some butt connectors.,or what's called wire connectors. Opened on both ends for wires to fit inside to clamp down.& Lighter seal the shrink wrapping down around the wires for A good moisture tight seal. I shrink wrapping before those then those connectors. Then slide that over them repeating the process again for double protection against moisture.& Moisture control as A safety measures.

You can't beat an old square body! Those trucks run really well when taken care of. My dad had one,and the back end was really light on it. Good trucks though. I like the 78 Ford half ton to.

I learned 35 years ago from my Grandfather... If your tires are spinning ( rain, mud, sand, snow ) back up, keep your steering wheel straight to start of then straighten it out slowly as you move. Cranking on that steering wheel like the old man did I'd worse than being stuck.

If somebody put in a el cheapo rebuilt starter you may have to shim the starter, hopefully it didn't chew up the flex plate. another great episode.

Just hammer a socket over that old rim key and let her eat. It'll come off, you guys scored a couple of certified rippers right here tad crispy but very usable nice find and you saved em from the forest rott!!!!! They were called redhots!!! Or glass packs by thrush with the woodpecker!! Logo. Or the purple hornets are a direct header Bolt-on glass packs with turn downs

I think somebody about 20 years ago did the Autozone performance package upgrade on this engine and truck with the Edelbrock carb, the Spectre chrome dressup kit with the braided coolant hoses and the GT steering wheel complete with cheezzzzyyy plastic pedal covers.

Excellent video Rev :) , Ole Man Eugene :) yes that 1979 Chevrolet Pickup on those Starter sounds not right for sure sound like flywheel or shim in on gear drive hole on mounted up Starter! Also sounds loud and proud on those 350 V8 4 barrel carb plus those headers with Cherry Red bomb on daul exhaust to and I know lots people done to Fords, Chevrolet, GMC , Dodge in gas and desiel motors to on oldies one! Also Rev :) that Key ignition switch yes have replaced it plus Cooper rod to and connects to a inighter box near firewall on right side on steering wheel on got get that part too plus drop steering wheel of dash to get near gas pedal on left and right on brake pedal white box with plug wires come out! The copper rod hook in back of bottom top part towards floor and rod slides up to Key ignition switch tumble on bottom facing floor so get spring action on crank motor over ! If get picture of that parts take to auto parts store show them and on computer to get print out to assist assembly back like Ford Puddin did to Key ignition too silmar by GM types only! Hope helps out and if not Google Search on 1978 GM steering wheel column for Key ignition switch give diagram to plus parts need and how fix up ! Be nice to help out Best can for you both fix up!
