Harvey the prairie dog, who we rescued after he was dumped outside last year, got his very own family and a little prairie dog mansion at the sanctuary!

You might want to add a small foyer with another door to this so you can get out without the prairie dogs escaping .

The enclosure is divine, and evidently it was an INSTANT HIT for Harvey and his new family. Well done team, and thanks so much for sharing this all with us!! I'm now going to watch that excited digging on repeat 😍 oh and the little boop with Clover when he pops up - just perfect.

Those prairie dogs are so adorable. I wanna give them hugs and kisses. The enclosure looks great. Thank you Chris and Gabby for your hard work to give all the animals a safe, happy life. I hate that you have to keep explaining about keeping wild animals. They are never tame nor pets. And are not meant to be kept in homes or apartments. Love from Tennessee.

Oh joy and what a treat. Haven’t seen one of these in years. That are escape artists, very clever, and their social structure is so fascinating but they are escape geniuses and can cause all kinds of problems. They are very cute but for folks watching and not expert keepers, if they they escaped into an ecosystem where they don’t belong they could destroy it, particularly it’s plant populations. Finally, they need to be in groups, will be very unhappy if kept alone, and will trash your house…all good reasons to leave their care to experts. They should not be pets, period. Some of the wild populations are carriers of bubonic plague…another reason to leave them alone. Please do NOT try to catch/handle wild prairie dogs!!! Decades ago, while working on my Bachelor’s at the U of Arizona a medical student shot one to dissect it. The coyote infected the student with bubonic plague and the student died. Thank you so much for a great video and a chance to see prairie dogs in a great enclosure.

I had 2 Prarie dogs for almost 7 years. I learned on the fly. And made sure I knew about proper nutrition for them. Any wild animal is just that, wild. Raised squirrels from pinkies and pulled opossums from their deceased mothers pouch. If you love animals. Educate yourself and anyone can do it

These animals are pets if you give them the right enclosure in the right attention and why do you pet these animals if you do not consider them as pets you should not have them if you do not consider them as pets you have to admit these are pets to you right

None of these animals are pets. If you don’t understand that we run a wildlife sanctuary and take in animals that people can’t keep anymore because they make horrible pets, then there’s nothing we can do to make you understand.
