After a drought of rescues while I have been away on holidays, then always busy with my parents whenever rescue calls came in, finally I was able to attend my first rescue in 6 weeks, followed closely by rescue 2.
I'd almost forgotten how to rescue and what I needed.
Peregrine (from Perry Street) was found in a recycling collection centre, where he had taken up involuntary residence in a large skip bin for metal recycling.
I was pretty sure I could get into it with no real dramas, but getting out was a different matter.
I probably should have brought a ladder, but I was at radiotherapy with my Dad when the call came in, and I couldn't fit a ladder and his wheelchair in the Bitchy McBitchface car, so I winged it and expected the depot to supply any rescue infrastructure I would need.
A small ladder was procured for me, and I had all the minion assistance I required to get my butt safely into and out from the skip.
Perry was just lying in the grunge on the bottom of the bin, totally unhappy about his new accommodation. He was simple to catch, and put up no actual fight. Because I had another rescue to go to, a more complex rescue requiring abseiling 2 storeys down onto a ledge, I dumped off Mr Peregrine on a carer so he could get some attention while I was involved in the other rescue.
He's been transferred to another carer and 48 hours later he is hanging with the boys.
Yay, ya gotta love the survivors.
Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for me. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status. By sending donations to them, they get a percentage (and deserve every cent) and they can allocate money to me for batty expenses without it becoming part of my income stream (which makes tax time difficult).

Mention Megabattie or Meg in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to me.
If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for me.
IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund, can you please email Jenny with the AMOUNT DONATED and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt.
The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie.
Here’s Jenny’s email.
