Super excited to see this preamp Ryan! Glad you are keeping the reverb. As I mentioned on Ampgarage leaving out the reverb circuit caused the cleans on the amp to change and they lost the character of the original JM amp. Thanks for taking this on. Happy Holidays!

@@TheToneGeek My pleasure, just saw your shout out, thanks! Excited to see it running. That little tank looks cool and even without a tank it will still have the authentic JM cleans as you mentioned since you have the tubes installed for the reverb.. Cheers! Guy

There are so many options out there. Peace Hill and HTJ both have tubes. Excited to see what you come up with. U can bundle a JM preamp with TS-10, BB and K-style pedals too!

Looks really awesome! The Peace Hill costs 630+tax+shipping, but only has 1 tube and it’s not a complete reproduction of a preamp If you manage to assemble that in that price range, more or less, your preamp will be unbeatable for dumble tones

just came across this ...interesting concept. I like it! ...have you got the JM Pre-amp up and running as yet? Would be nice to see it available as a kit :)

Thanks! Not yet but I'll be making more traction soon. I need to figure out the reverb still. I might need to abandon and go with a 2RU size enclosure for v1

Very cool idea and once you have it, probably a lot easier to plug other preamps into the basic design. I assume the reverb would be connections to an external tank? Now once you have this all done, you should move on to the poweramp next! A single channel version of the McIntosh MC2300 that Jerry Garcia used would be awesome! Solid state so shouldn't be as challenging as a tube poweramp would be, but those have become VERY pricy and not all that easy to find. I don't know of anyone building a single channel version of those and at 300 watts (per channel), they are a pristine beast that can drive pretty much anything you'd want. I know I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat if it was available!

Yeah!! I like where you’re going here. I do like the idea of a McIntosh! There are quite a few mono blocks out there which can be interesting

@@TheToneGeek It based on the Ceriatone schematic, but I had all custom wound transformers made, even reverb as I wanted to do a couple of things differently, like dc heaters to everything except the power tubes to lower the noise floor, impedance matching the 6L6s, etc. Fun build!

Hey man, totally random question. I'm currently building the AionFx Delta (VERTEX SSS ) and I've hit a snag. I have the jacks, power, etc wired correctly but get no signal. LED works, signal passes through when in bypass, but nothing plugged in except my amp buzzing a bit more than usual. If I touch the pots, it creates a slight ground buzz, but if I touch the gain pot, the buzz is louder. All controls are working in that the buzz changes volume, tone, and harshness when turning pots.If I touch my strings there is also a but of noise seems almost like a ground issue, but I've went over everything and I'm stumped

That sounds like a chip or transistor might be in backwards. The community at diystompbox are great (I'm there too) for helping with this stuff and uploading pictures always is insightful. I hope it's a simple and easy fix ⚡

@@TheToneGeek same. I used the SMT J201's already placed on chips and soldered legs on them. I've triple checked them to be sure they're right. I was curious if there might be a method of checking continuity or voltage I might be missing to isolate exactly where I'm losing signal. I have absolutely nothing on the output when testing continuity from input with the pedal on. I'm getting voltage on D and S pads of Q2 and Q4, but not Q1 and Q3. The
