Excellent. Thanks. What if Durbin Watson number is less than 1. In my case 0.005?
@ResearchByDesign4 жыл бұрын
The Durbin-Watson less than 1 would indicate residual errors are auto correlated (not independent) - if you have correlated errors you cannot use multiple regression. You may be able to use an alternative such as time-series analysis. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Good luck

Dr. Daniel, you mentioned at the end of this video that the next video would deal with reviewing how to interpret regression output. I don't see that video. Could you provide me with some direction on where to find it? Thank you, Dale
@ResearchByDesign5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale. I am going to post two PDFs in my google folder (link in the channel art). One is for simple linear regression and the other is for multiple regression. Both use the JobSatisfaction.sav dataset in this video (and also available in the folder). Those will walk you through the SPSS output, how to interpret, and how to do the APA write-up. Check that folder in a few hours and you will find them. Thanks!

Hello, What should I do if I am working with ordinal variables? Should I convert them to scale variables?
@ResearchByDesign4 жыл бұрын
There is an option for Ordinal regression. I'd recommend Laerd Statistics as a starting point. They have wonderful, detailed tutorials. I'd recommend against treating an ordinal variable as scale unless you have multiple items, each on a 5-point Likert scale, that can be averaged to form a sub scale. Then you could treat that aggregate score as scale. Good luck.

Hi, how do we run linear regression if I have a continuous dependent variable and categorical independent variable? Thanks.
@ResearchByDesign3 жыл бұрын
Depending on the specifics, you would do a t-test or an ANOVA. It's the same math, actually, just a different test. Good luck

what if my constant under coefficient a is not significant (t = 1.274, sig. .205?
@ResearchByDesign4 жыл бұрын
The constant does not have to be significant (although if it is ns, be sure to check whether the entire model is significant). If so, and your b value is significant, then you can report the findings as model that significantly predicts the outcome variable.

@@ResearchByDesign Thank you very much. I appreciate the time it's has taken you to develop this video and answering my question.
@grouse64 жыл бұрын
@@ResearchByDesign I have one other question. For the purpose of conducting regression, is it necessary to adjust all outliers (small circles) or just extreme ouliers (small stars)? In an earlier T-test I was advised from my university to just remove extreme outliers. However, after watching your videos it may be a mistake to do so for regression. My residual numbers are more than 3.29. Thanks you.
