Thanks for sharing this video. I've been searching for small switching layouts on youtube for several years now and this clip just popped up out of the blue today. Great journey and well executed layout, thanks for sharing your story with us John. Moving around with the military and trying to build a layout is a challenge to which I can easily attest to. I love your presentations, fellas. One word of advice...have the host/presenter use the "mute all attendees" function at the start of the program to eliminate the distractions.

Thanks, Andy. we leave it open because we appreciate questions. We have tried it both ways and this is what the group prefers. Glad you enjoy the presentations!

@@nmramichianadivision8486 I didn't mean to mute attendees permanently, just at the beginning so the video and audio don't kick over to someone other than the speaker. People don't realize their mics are "hot." Attendees can unmute themselves to ask questions.

FWIW, Try Street Yard was in Pittsburgh PA (right at the end of the Liberty Bridge -- the Warehouse in the background of the image is still there, and is now apartments. )

Interesting concept and good presentation. The big road going over Hermitage Yard is actually the Boulevard. Might have been known as North Blvd in your era. Now known as Arthur Ash Blvd. Anyway, I remember going over that bridge over the yard as a kid (I’ll soon be 72) with my dad. He used to use those Alcatraz varnishes. I remember seeing the name on cans in his shop. This presentation brought back some fond memories of the area. A good layout design element to model.

Is there a distinction between a layout and an operating diorama?
