Lots of things I don't know. Very, very helpful. Incidentally I can literally use a number of the examples and just replace a few items like a different surname. I have ancestors in Italy and Berrien County, Michigan. I think one other place the same but I don't remember what it was. Thought that was kind of neat.

Thank you very much. This video is very helpful and came at a time when I was ready to give up because I DID NOT KNOW this information. You explained it very well and Family Search is very user-friendly. I indexed for you all for a little while a couple years ago but ran out of time to do it. I now know how very important that help is to you and will try to get back into it soon.

I started doing genealogical research about 12 years ago and Family Search has been an invaluable source until it seemed to run dry. I took a several year hiatus in the hope that there would be more info available when I returned. That hasn’t been the case, but videos like this one might offer much needed clues. Thank you for posting it. I’ve also started indexing records in Spanish and do quite a few every day. I only hope that it will be of benefit to anyone, some day. My question is, why aren’t these non-indexed records made available to volunteer indexers? I would surely love to work on records from my places of interest, if I had the choice, as I would be very familiar with the spelling, names and surnames as well as geographical locations, thus minimizing the risk for errors.

Has your team considered investing in Optical Character recognition (OCR) Technology to grab the text on the images? This will help a lot with indexing. We can then proof read the extracted text from OCR software.
