I really feel like with this kind of stuff you need to go to an auction house with each piece. Or eBay it all. Selling wholesale might be the way to go but all the jewelers I've been met have very big margins.

Speidell from 1940 was high end at the time ,and a lot of old 10 to 18 karat is worth more than the new stuff because of age but has to be sold as vintage to get your money,a lot around here will actually give you double the gold price to not have a piece melted

Curiosity inc has a vlog on KZbin. They did a hoarders house full of jewelry. Put it to auction and gross up to 450 thousand dollars Canadian. He mostly does vintage everything and has done comics and cards..all to auction. They would be a good watch by you and maybe reach out too a bit. No slow your roll sell all alone to make the must profits.

If you want to go the jeweler route then you should open your lot up to bids from multiple jewelers. Competition is fun and profitable! And yes some vintage jewelry is worth more than gram weight and diamonds are not the only stones worth money. Step back and take a deep breath and have patience😁

Your idea to go slowly is excellent. You can ALWAYS sell gold and silver, so you don't need to be in a hurry. If someone wants to buy a lot of it, the key is how much they will pay per gram. The average woman's plain size 6 modern wedding band weighs about 3 grams. The price of gold goes up and down every day, but scrap value is in the general neighborhood of $25/gram for 10K, $35/gram for 14K and $45/gram for 18K. This is very roughly what you get on ebay for SCRAP before fees. I'd ask potential buyers how much they are willing to pay per gram for plain gold and eliminate anyone who gives a number that is below scrap, because you can go to a large city and sell directly to a refinery with zero (or very close to zero) sales expenses and get 95% of scrap (gold refiners are listed in the yellow pages). Local gold buyers (jewelers, pawn shops) will give you a little extra for diamonds, and generally nothing for colored stones. The colored stones in the rings you showed in this video are probably spinel (natural or synthetic) and worth just about zero. Stay away from the places that want you to mail your gold to them or that advertise that they are coming to town wanting to buy jewelry. I would not personally sell high value jewelry on ebay (anything over $500) insurers are picky about paying claims involving jewelry lost in the mail. Any baby rings should be sold separately on ebay, where they would have good value as "Vintage NOS 10K Baby Ring". The lockets that are gold would do very well (way above scrap) on ebay as well. Baby rings and lockets might be worth only $5 as scrap because they weigh so little but $35 - $45 as pieces of jewelry. Sterling charms and charm bracelets would do well on ebay as well. Good luck with your good fortune.

@ChaseAfterTheRightPrice3 жыл бұрын
Very interesting! Is there an upper limit on how many jewels are in watches?
@domg45383 жыл бұрын
The ones from the time period you found are right after the cusp of the beginnings of synthetics taking over in the 1930s as for the cost and the skill/time/talent needed to set them properly. The most common jewels were ruby and sapphire so as a Pokémon Master, you would appreciate it. The number on the outside or face is generally the number of jewels but now it is written in movements which make it harder to see.

Most of that gold is just gonna be sold and bought to scrap unless it has a valuable stone in it or something! Scrap gold prices have been pretty consistent over the past 1+ year at around $1700 an ounce and possibly $1900 at the highest ($60-$66 a gram)!!! Gold in U.S. is usually 10k and 14k! Any gold marked lower than 10 it's really ain't worth much. All 10k & 14k mean is the item contains 42% and 58% gold. 24k is pure gold. So a gold band marked 14k that weighs 2g. Is 1.16 g. of pure gold!
