Reservations to Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims - IN NEWS I Drishti IAS

In a move with far-reaching implications, the Centre is all set to constitute a national commission to study the social, economic and educational status of members of Scheduled Castes, or Dalits, who converted to religions other than Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. The Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950 stipulates that no person professing a religion different from Hinduism, Sikhism or Buddhism can be deemed to be a member of a Scheduled Caste. The original order under which only Hindus were classified as SCs was amended in 1956 to include Sikhs, and in 1990 to cover Buddhists. As per the rules, about 60% of seats are reserved in India - for various sections like ST, SC, OBC, and EWS - with respect to Government jobs and Higher Education Institutions.

If Economic condition is the basis of reservation, then courts will be bound to give reservation to economic weaker section of other religions also. That is why our founding father's of constitution had made castes as basis of reservation & not the economic condition. Successive governments, due to their short sightednes,s have not followed the original concept hence will not be able to argue its case.

Islam and Christianity are foreign religions, there is no concept of untouchability in those religions hence Muslim's and Chirstian's not eligible for reservation. 2) Both Islam and Christian's were in power before Independence so this itself make them ineligible. 3) Muslims wanted preferential treatment hence got separate country, now if Muslim's were given reservation in India this is nothing but insulting freedom fighters who gave their lives for Independence. Hence both Chirstian's and Muslims should be kept out of Reservation. 4) This is the reason why BR Ambedkar choose Buddhism not Islam or Christianity.

My question why we means muslim converted. From Hindu to muslim or christan too. As most common factors was ** CASTE*** where as muslim ND christan dint support caste. This religion based reservation should be implemented in ST and OBC reservation otherwise large number of ST and OBC people will change there religion. In Jharkhand most of the ST community people changed there religion because of money lots of foreign countries are involved in this.

Islam and Christianity are foreign religions, there is no concept of untouchability in those religions hence Muslim's and Chirstian's not eligible for reservation. 2) Both Islam and Christian's were in power before Independence so this itself make them ineligible. 3) Muslims wanted preferential treatment hence got separate country, now if Muslim's were given reservation in India this is nothing but insulting freedom fighters who gave their lives for Independence. Hence both Chirstian's and Muslims should be kept out of Reservation. 4) This is the reason why BR Ambedkar choose Buddhism not Islam or Christianity.
